Lumpectomy 1st Time

I had a lumpectomy on my right breast and some lymph node removal. A drain was put in as well. Surgery was Friday. I had a hard time with the anesthesia. I came out dizzy, and nauseous. I threw up all the way home. Its 3 days later and while im not in pain I get faint and whoozy mid day. Im only on Ibuprofen and a antibiotic. I have something for nausea as well. Is it normal to feel this faint this many days later? When should I worry?

Hello. I had my lumpectomy and sentinel next de biopsy on Friday. I also had bad reaction to anaesthesia snd struggled to wake up and threw up all over myself. I almost posted the same question yesterday!
I have been feeling woozy and tired easily and like theres a funny wobble inside my brain.
I am reassured by everyone around me (non medical) that I am expecting too much and just rest and be kind to myself. Obviously anaesthetic has its effects. I can sit up chatting with people for so long then i just want to lie down and close my eyes. So that’s what im going to do. Our bodies are healing and that takes energy we cant see. Im seeing the breast nurse on Friday so will talk to her or email if it continues. If you’re worried phone the nurse. Best of luck xx

Hi, I was very nauseous after my lumpectomy, felt like death the whole day, but the nurses gave me different tablets to try to help. I only improved after I vomited, then I was absolutely fine. I had an excision 6 weeks later & the anaesthetist asked how I’d coped with the anaesthetic, I said I’d been very nauseous & he gave me something while I was under & I was fine. I think I’d ask if you could have something for it, I wouldn’t have thought it would last for days.

Hi @anya1 and @square-boob

Sorry that you’re both still feeling so poorly after anaesthetic . I realize that you are feeling sick but you need to make sure you are drinking plenty of water as you may be slightly dehydrated and that in turn could be affecting your blood pressure a bit which may be causing dizziness etc. also if you haven’t felt able to eat you will be feeling weak which will add to that . If you don’t feel like eating properly have a biscuit or a piece of toast to keep your energy levels up. Coca cola ( other brands also available !) mint and particularly anything with ginger is good for nausea - it’s something I rely on as I have always been very travel sick and it took me a full week to get over a general anaesthetic in 2007 due to residual dizziness from having labyrinthitis in 2006.
When you get out of bed move slowly and sit on the edge for a minute before standing up .

If you can walk about a bit it will do you good but be kind to yourselves don’t try to do too much and schedule a rest / nap into your day if you can . Hopefully you will be feeling better in a day or two. Xx
