Lumpectomy and Lympnodes removal- how long does the OP take?

Hello everyone !
As i write this, our daughter should be/ is in the operating theatre…
Can anyone share how long this kind of OP will take, if there are no complications… i know is something totally individual and depending on so many other factors but may it is possible to get a rough kind of estimate as a guidline ?!

Many Thanks!

Hi

I was knocked out for 90 mins. Had a clock in front of me as the anaesthetic was given, and just happened to be a clock in the recovery room!

The second op for cavity shave was about 45 mins.

Hope all goes well for her x

Hello @sal1 !
Thank you so much, for reaching out and sharing your experience regarding the OP !!
At this point we dont even know, if our daughter will have both breast operated on, as she has also the BRCA1 gene…
Still, i find it incredible how fast these OPs seem to go… nevertheless… we are all tense to wait to hear from our daughter…

Thank you so much for your well wishes for her and the OP- very much appreciated!

Returning the well wishes to you… sending strength and determination also…

I had lumpectomy with matrix rotation flap and six lymph nodes removed, just over a week ago. I think it was about three hours, including preparation with anaesthetic and then recovery room before going to the ward. Don’t be too worried if it takes a few hours but obviouslythe type of surgerymakes a difference. I hope it all goes well for your daughter

Is good to have a bit of an idea of the time this OP takes… will be just good now and a huge relief to know, that shes back on the ward…

Thank you so much for wishing our daughter well
I would like to wish you well too and sending strength and determination to face what still lies ahead of you!

I’d been wondering today how she was getting on.

Remember that how long she is away from the ward isn’t really how long the op takes as it depends on how quickly she’s taken to the anaesthetic room, how long she takes to wake up, some people are more sensitive to the drugs than others, and then simply how long it takes to transport her back to the ward.

I hope that she’s ok and that she’ll be home tomorrow.

Hello @pat !
That is ever so kind of you - Thank you, for thinking of her !
You definitely have hood point there…
She had to be in the jospital for 7:15 am and still was in her room at 14:00… but she expected delays anyhow, as things like this are never really on time… is genuinely impossible, i think…
Thank you so much, for reaching out, @pat  very much appreciated!

Hope you are in a good place… sending calm and strength…
