hi all - had my lumpectomy and node sampling last wednesday so still early days yet but I’m still so sore…I suppose I’d psyched myself up for it to be a small op and with that small amounts of pain! I think I did too much the day after really and didn’t rest about enough, its so hard with the kids as you want them to see you up and about and appearing normal. I managed till I had a bad night on friday and didn’t sleep well and then come the morning I was wincing about with sharp pain - felt like it was in the skin and going right across my boob area, clothes made it worse but there’s only so long you can stand there naked supporting a poorly boob with one hand - if I press it gently then it eases the pain for some strange reason…I haven’t been a martyr either regarding painrelief and have been taking them regularly esp since friday night as before that I was getting a bit lax about needing them. Ended up taken the dressings off completely and the skin looked irritated and red so I wondered if I was having a mild reaction to the dressing material as after that it eased quite a lot. No redness or hardness or temp which might mean infection so I have decided I’m officially a wimp after all ;0) Mary
Hi Just had same experience actually 10 days post op and as if no longer numg but everything knitting together. What pain relief you taking cos mine not touching it.
Hi there,
i had WLE and was sent home with paracematol - not nearly strong enough - sent OH back to hosp in middle of night to get something stronger. Keep taking the tablets or ask for something stronger if they really arn’t working, my boob swelled up enormously and kept leeking - apparently this is Ok as long as it isn’t hot (as kittenkat says). I think things settle down after about two weeks - and then you have to remember to do the exercises which can be quite painful too.
hope things improve
cheers
caroline
Hi Caroline Thanks for that.I ended up on brufen and cocodanol 30/500 which really helped got to remember senna also and am taking losec for stomach protection. Its funny cos I am a district nurse and never thought pain would be as bad !! But I think the position and the initial numb feeling gives a false sense of security.Anyway most activities back to normal although wary of driving on these pain killers and of course ironing just cannot be done even though its the opposite side!!!Hubby doing great job. Thanks again for supportLove Teresa
