I guess I should be pleased that I do not have to have to undergo two lots of anaesthetic and two preop appointments
i was in the list to have a histocospy and smear and colcospy under general anaesthetic as haven’t been able to tolerate having a smear test having many failed attempts - I had CIN3 precancerous cells in my cervix which where treated 8 years ago and haven’t had a smear for the last five years - so was on the waiting list to go in soon
since then I have been diagnosed with Stage 2 BC and due to have surgery FeB 8th.
the hospital have arranged for both procedures to be done at the same time.
two consultants at one time !
i am no worried there may be a link between the two and am worried they will discover something in my cervix too. I had HPV in my 20s
plus also the whole thing will mean pain in my breast and lymph node removal and now more in my cervix
Oh my god ! Could there be a link ???
Bizzylizzy you could ask this question in the ask the nurses section .As far as I’m aware there’s no link between cervical cancer and breast cancer - there can be a genetic link with ovarian and womb cancer ,You have probably just been very unlucky I’m afraid .I have both the procedures you are having - but not at the same time !! The recovery is actually not too bad at all as long as you keep on top of the pain by taking regular painkillers and do the recommended exercises .Good luck .Jill x
I had a lumpectomy and sentinal node biopsy a week ago and I had no pain at all, not taken a single painkiller and I was shopping (carefully!) in Lidl by 2pm on the day of my op. The biggest risk to me is overusing my arm because I keep forgetting the surgery happened! I also had two unrelated gynacological surgeries over the last 18 months and although these hurt a little more because they cut through the abdominal wall, again I didn’t need any painkillers at all either time. Hope this reassures you a little, I’m sure you will be fine, good luck
Feels like a double whammy doesn’t it?
sometimes there is no rhyme or reason
