Hi I’m new,my name is Jeanette, I’m to have a lumpectomy next week, just wondered if anyone can tell me how long the operation lasts and what do you suggest I wear to be comfortable after the operation? Any advice would be gratefully received.

Hi Jeanette. I too am having lumpectomy and sentinal lymph node biopsy next week. Been told today at pre assessment that it is done as a day case so home same night. Others have recommended a good fitting sports bra with wide side panels and front opening pj’s or tops are helpfull. Hope everything goes well for you next week. My cancer is invasive and hormone receptive, have they said anything about yours.
Hi Jeanette, I had a lumpectomy and lymph nodes taken two weeks ago. Just started driving again today! I went down for surgery first which was nice at 9am and when i woke up it was 11am. I was fine just really tired! I went home the same day as had no drains. Just kept painkillers up and slept when i could - was surprised how tired i felt! By the fourth day i could do most things but didnt over do it and i have an 18 month old little girl so just her on her own is enough work! I got jogging bottoms, strappy tops (some with in built support), zip up the front tops/cardigans and pjs so easy to just slip on affected arm and seamless, non wire bras (look like sports bras/crop tops) and they where from primark. Hope this helps and hope it goes well for you and your recovery, liz x
