I had my lumpectomy for low grade small dcis last Thursday (results appointment made for 4 weeks time), and yesterday (5 days since op) I spoke to my BCN.
My question is would they have the results or initial results by now? As as I casually mentioned I was hoping to go away on a holiday soon, she said something like “we’ll have to see about that”.
It’s got be worried that just after a few days they’ve got my results and it isn’t good. Note when I originally met my BCN she knew of my holiday plan and seemed very encouraging.

Tuttifruitti Anything said from the norm makes us worry when waiting for results. Hopefully she said it off the cuff for no apparent reason.

I’m sure she didn’t mean anything by it, just that you need to wait for the full biopsy results to confirm if there are clear margins and whether the lymph nodes are clear. I was told that even after surgery there could be one or more surgeries afterwards if the margins and lymph nodes are not clear.
The results will be discussed within the multi disciplinary team meeting as well before sharing with you. Another reason why she wouldn’t commit to say, ‘great go on your holiday’.
The waiting is always the hardest. 1 week nearly done.
