Hi I’m 42 and recently found a lump. Feels smooth like a cyst and so I ignored it for a while and then kept feeling it and thought oh I should probably get it checked.
GP agreed it felt like a cyst and referred me to the clinic.
Since then I’ve felt what I think is another thing - underneath my breast. I think I might be over thinking it and maybe just feeling normal breast tissue but turning it into something else in my mind. It feels long ish and thin sort of like the edge of a piece of slate. Anyway I don’t really have a question other than has anyone else felt anything similar. Also did most people who were told it was a cyst by the GP turn out to have a cyst?

@span121 hello there
im 53 and on this side as a mother of a 28 year old daughter with TNBC with BRCA1. she only was diagnosed in march this year…
if its ok to voice my own opinion here… im so glad, that you decided to have this lump checked out !!! as we all know, as sooner , as better !!! good also, that you had a referral to a clinic to get it checked out more closely !!
the reason why im reaching out is… ( and i dont say this now to make you more worried, or say what happened to my daughter is what is happening to you- NOT AT ALL !) my daughter was seen by 3 different doctors andwas always told, the lump she did felt is nothing… thankfully she trusted her instinct and was persistent, till the 4th doctor referred her for more closer check ups…
so plese DO stay persistent and trust your gut feeling !!!
regarding feeling THINGS in the breast… i think every woman can rely on, that feeling our own breasts is a bit of a minefield… there is sooooo much going on… bumps, bits, harder bits aso… when to know, what is simply normal and when to figure this is not right…
i recently had my breast checked because i had pain in two areas which didnt go away and also felt SOMETHING i was not sure about… thankfully i was ok but i was greatful, to have peace of mind by being checkt up properly !
and yes.hell yes can the mind play nasty tricks with us… and something we felt before and felt ok about all for a sudden is a worry… i think this is why it is so important to follow up on theses things… to have peace of mind… and be cleared, or if worse, get the help and treatment asap !!!
we are lucky enough to have thes things in place, that we can get medical attention…
so please never stop to follow up on something which dosent feel right to you !
wishing you all the best and a good outcome !!! try to stay strong and sane…

Thank you so much for your reply! It’s actually probably just what I needed to hear but without realising. It’s reassuring to hear that my mind can just play tricks but I’m doing the right thing getting checked. Thank you!

you are more than welcome !
please do stay safe in what you will be doing further and take good care of yourself and your body !
is a hell of a lot to get your head around and for it to sink in… but it seems that your instinct is guiding you in the right direction- which is great
all the best… stay determind !
