lymohoedema braclet

Hi
I am half way through my chemo. Got an infetion a week after my 3rd session of FEC T. Was taken to A&E. The doctor came round and struggled to get blood. He was going round to my operation arm and I stopped him. He asked me why so I told him. In he was quite abrupt and said " Where did you get this information from". I told him it was from breast cancer care. His reply “It should say in this information if I need to save your life I can use your other arm” I was not aware I needed my life saving!
So I am asking if anyone knows where I can buy a medical braclet so if in the future I am not able,it will stop a doctor doing the same again
Thanks
Tomsmam

Hi Tomsmum,
what a dreadful experience, I’m so sorry. Of course if it was life and death we’d let them use our at risk arm, but this clearly wasn’t grrr, silly doctor.

Anyway, I am sitting here typing away wearing an ‘at risk’ bracelet type thing made of silicone which says ‘Axilary Lymph Node: This arm no bloods, no BP’. A lady called angielav who posted on here a while back managed to persuade the maufuacturer to offer them in lilac as well as lurid pink (I have one of each!). I think you can get the purple one at a lower price froma link on thse forums - but i’m blowed if I can find it just now.***

A few ladies have alsao bought ‘smart’ silver ones (I think imported from US) for best and/or medicalert or SOS-talisman type

The lymphedema support network sell hospital band style ones which are useful if you need to go into hospital on a planned basis:

Long may you remain no more than ‘at risk’.

Hope the rest of chemo goes Ok for you, and that you are soon back to full health and NED for decades.

EDIT *** It’s here:

I got a lovely silver bracelet with a medi alert heart shaped charm on it stating lympodema risk to left arm. From
Theidbandco.com. You can have anything you want engraved on it. I had to order a dog tag and necklace type one for my diabetic son and had ordered a longer chain than the one it came with. A very nice chap phoned me up to make sure that I wanted them to fit the longer chain to his tag. Very quick service, not too pricey, wide selection and uk based

Hi,

I ordered the lilac silicone bracelet from the company listed above, came very quickly and I feel happier knowing that I now have something to alert the medical profession. I don’t know why lymphoedema seems to always get that kind of reaction, what’s that all about??? xx

Hi

I just ordered a heart charm from Theidbandco as I have a portacath fitted. I had it engraved appropriately and it is fitted with a lobster clasp so that I can attach it to any bracelet or necklace that I am wearing that day. It can also be attached to a watch or bag if preferred.

Since my portacath will be removed hopefully once I have finished my herceptin treatment this was the easiest and cheapest option as it is only a temporary condition.
