Hello, I’m two years from left side mastectomy, chemo and radiotherapy. On Abemaciclib and letrozole. All lymph nodes removed on left, 5/9 cancer, just had yearly mammogram on good side but called back in next week for more detailed scan, large lymph node detected on auxiliary right side? Can breast cancer spread to other auxiliary under arm nodes? I can’t find any info, thank you
Axillary!
Hi jules6,
Thanks for posting.
It’s understandable that you are seeking information about what may be causing the enlarged lymph node seen in your right axilla on mammogram following breast cancer treatment two years. You say you are taking letrozole and abemaciclib.
Lymph nodes can be enlarged for many reasons, for example when our bodies are fighting infection, but they can also be a sign of cancer. It is possible for cancer to return in lymph nodes in other parts of the body. Because of your breast cancer history, it is important that the lymph node seen on mammogram is investigated further, but it may be enlarged due to another reason rather than cancer.
Your breast cancer team are best placed to explain what has been seen on the mammogram, you may wish to contact your breast cancer nurse, if you have one, to answer any other questions you may have.
