hi
this is my first post however…i have read the forums in the past
…4 years ago with my 1st dx & now again in other breast!
so help please…have any of you had a sentinel node biop with just one pos node ie sentinel node positive and then gone on to have clearance & found all other nodes clear?
as really struggling with thought of losing nodes - again!!
hoping for some feed back - thank you!!
jk
yes,i had a sentinal node with cancer cells and all others was clear after i had them out,i had a lumpectomy for a grade3 17mm tumour then told had to have a mascectomy and that came back all clearxxx
thanks for that…i have been told the standard treatment is to have lymphnode clearance after 1 pos sentinel node …but i’m stll struggling with this as it seems odds of them being clear can be as hish 80-90% - so hard that the only way of definitely testing nodes is once they’re out of the body!! & we’re left with the after effects but am telling myself that i should think that a small price to pay???
is there anyone who has gone against the grain & kept their nodes?
jkxx
get them out its the only way to make sure, ive not had any problems dont risk it xxx
Hi Kath12
At SNB I had 2 ‘micromets’ in my sentinel node, the other three nodes removed at the same time were all clear - didn’t have full clearance of the rest of the nodes, had rads there instead. I was dx in May 2006. My surgeon did initially say if there was any trace of cancer in the nodes he would have to remove them all but he didn’t follow through on this. Love xxx
hi swissmiss, how are you ?not spoke for a while ive not started my radio yet starting after xmas,
Hi Drabble
Am doing ok, how about you, guess you have finished your chemo by now! How is your hair coming on and are your taste buds coming back? So, rads after Christmas. I had 30 rads in all, 25 normal and then 5 boosters. How many are you having Drabble? Love xxx
Hi jk
I didn’t even have SNB. The surgeon thought a node felt malignant and looked it on scan so whipped them all out during WLE. Only one was involved but I’m pleased they are gone.

thanks for comments…good no problems reported! & must say my left nodeless arm ok but as i’m right handed not so confident that i’ll be so ‘lucky’! again! haven’t been offered rads (yet) this time but may find out if that’s an option for me
love jk x

Hi, I had all removed as had lump under the arm but luckily the senital node held it there and it went no further. Good luck with your decision, I have since developed lymphodema which i dont like but think my paranoi would have been wrose!!!
