Lymphoedema in breast

I,like other ladies on here, have very swollen, painful boob after finishing treatment- wle x2 axillary clearance and chemo, rads finished april. My breast has got bigger and has two distinct areas of fluid.I have seen lymph nurses and they say I have lymphoedema in my breast and only a tiny amount in my arm.I saw a Macmillan nurse who start to do some MLD on me but stopped as she could see a red area on my boob,it had been there a few days at least, she got a consultant in and they decided to put me on antibiotics in case it was infection.Am now on a second course. Before the antibiotics I had a mild cold and because of continually feeling tired and sweating from tamoxifen,I genuinely couldn’t say I felt ill and I certainly didn’t realise the significance of a little pink bit on my boob.It seems to have gone now but I am so fed up!I am grateful to have got through my first year but it seems never ending. There is a lot of info about lymphoedema in the arm but not so much about in the breast.Has anyone else had the same as me and if so did it eventually go?Thanks

Dear Picklepants

There is a really good resource, The Lymphoedema Support Network which offers lots of information regarding lymphoedema.  Breast Cancer Care, has its own information booklet, which is free to download or order, Living with lymphoedema after breast cancer.  Also, if you have any questions, please do give our Support line a call, 0808 800 6000.

The first time I had chemo I developed cellulitis in my left boob and some lymphedema. I was on intravenous antibiotics as I was in hospital with low neutrophils. After the infection went I saw the lymphedema nurse who showed me how to take it up with kinisia tape which I used for a couple of months and it cleared up
