Macmillan nurse

Advice please. I was diagnosed on March 31st. This might be a silly question, but does everyone have a Macmillan nurse? If not, how do you go about getting one? Do you have to be referred or can you request one? I was prescribed Letrozole, and given the number of the breast care nurse, but the way things are re. Covid 19, I feel I have been somewhat left to ‘get on with it’. How much contact/monitoring is there usually after diagnosis. TIA

Hi Pat, Im not sure if all of them are funded by Macmillan but everyone diagnosed with breast cancer should be given the contact details of a breast care nurse .Some are more pro-active in making contact with you than others but if you need to talk to someone about your diagnosis /treatment of you leave a message they will usually ring you back .In some teams they are also able to refer you for support from a psychologist attached to the service .Im guessing most things will be over the phone at the moment but it may help for you to be able to talk even if it’s not face to face .Jill x
