Macon Bra query

taking advice from a couple of threads here, I ordered 2 Macon post-surgery bras which arrived yesterday. I tried on the black one but, not only did it not feel like it was giving much support, it was also the most see-through bra I’ve ever worn - leaves nothing to the imagination!! Is this normal or have I received a dud?? I have tried emailing the company but no reply as yet!

And has anyone got any other suggestions for a good bra to wear - I’m having a lump + lymph nodes removed if that makes a difference.

Thanks in advance

Hi MAC,

I think I was one of the people who recommended Macon bras and I had the same surgery as you two weeks ago.  They are slightly transparent but I didn’t think that was a cause for concern as I will only be wearing these bras for a few weeks while I heal and don’t plan to wear see-through tops over them.  Also, the only people who are going to see me in my bras are my surgeons so I don’t think they’ll be shocked by the sight of my breast in a bra!  I also found mine to be very supportive to my 30G bust and considerably more comfortable than the Royce ones that I had been wearing (you need to remember that your boob will be swollen and tender for a few weeks).

However, as I think I said, the Royce post-surgery bras have even stronger compression than the Macon ones so they do feel more supportive and are less transparent but they are not really suitable for larger boobs like mine as they are not made in big enough sizes but if you have smaller boobs than me you might find them more to your liking.  I think you also need to remember that post-surgery compression bras do not have panels/seams in the way that a normal support bra would (for obvious reasons) so will not give the same sort of support.  Some ladies prefer sports bras/nursing bras so you might like to try those.

Great minds think alike Cheryl, the underarm hair thing is bothering me too! I’ve bought an electric razor for future use but don’t dare risk it this soon after surgery (2 weeks); the axillary wound is healing very nicely but is still raised and a bit uncomfortable so I definitely don’t want to ‘catch’ it in any way.

I’m off to see the radiotherapy team for the first time today so hopefully I’ll find out whether they are going to treat my armpit as well as my boob.  If they do the armpit too, I’m told that I can expect the hair there to fall out which would be a bonus :smileyvery-happy:  If not, I think I’ll wait at least another week before tackling the underarm hair with the electric razor.  Got a feeling that’s going to be painful!

Dear MAC66, the Macom bra are sheer as they are expandable. This confused me at first as well. My mother used it after her surgery and after I have used them too. I found that their ibra was more supportive than their signature bra, their website says that the i-bra is the most supportive 5/5 and I really found this great support and very comfortable.
