Magnesium Question

Hello!

I’m actually waiting for a call from my BCN but my mind is wandering so I thought I’d ask on here as well.

I’m on day 17 now - regime is Phesgo/Nab-Paclitaxel and Carboplatin

I’m just about to have cycle 4 - but my Magnesium level bottomed out this cycle and I’ve not yet managed to get it back to baseline. I’ve been unable to tolerate any oral medications (awful diarrhea). I’ve had 2 magnesium infusions but again…my levels are still really low and I don’t feel amazing.

I’m due to see Oncologist Monday to review before next chemo. How is this likely to affect me going forward…will chemo still go ahead? I haven’t yet had any dose reductions etc but I’m wondering whether this will have any negative implications. I really haven’t bounced back at all this cycle so I’m apprehensive to go again when the issue is yet to be resolved…but equally I want to get the chemo done!

Thank you! x

Hi @tsoph

I hope you have heard from your breast care nurse to be able to put your mind at rest.

The breast cancer now nurses finish at 1 today and not back until Monday so hopefully they will be able to reply then. But I notice your are seeing your oncologist then so might be a bit late.

I can’t comment on your issue but thought I would signpost you to MacMillan as they are open 8am to 8pm 7 days a week so might be worth a call this weekend to put your mind a rest.

Take care :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Thank you for posting.

As naughty_boob has said, hopefully you have now seen your oncologist and they have answered the questions you have about your magnesium levels and how this may impact your next round of chemotherapy.
