Male breast cancer

I’m 73 male had lump on left breast for while didn’t think much about it until it started getting bigger and moving, so of to doctors week later at breast clinic having mri few days later in for biopsy long needle pocked in, week later consultant telling me all sorts. Good job I had my daughter with me as it was going in and not registering. He then said I will book you in for left breast and any other cancer to come out, week later hospital shitting myself as I also have copd and 3 strokes, anyway done and came out with drain and nurse coming every day to change bag, 10 days later back to see consultant, he said on traditional chemo as my body wouldn’t take it so 15 rounds off radiotherapy at Mount Vernon
And then gene testing I carry the cancer gene so won the lottery also lymph nodes taken out /but not in the neck area, going back to see consultant as have more lumps amd pain in breast area, also cancer drugs they don’t tell you about side effect, happily sitting in the sun getting burned never burned in my life, as I’m mixed race so that was painful and constipated and horrible rash covered my body so stoped taking them and had antibiotics instead, best cream for radiotherapy ie aveeno thanks for letting me rant mick

Hi all went back to see consultant she has put me on another drug letrozole just reading up on possibly side effect joint pain carpeltunnel syndrome Christ have enough trouble using right hand as it is due to stroke, swelling hands feet ankles, heart palpitations chest pain, blood clots but I’m on so many blood thinners shortness of breath well have copd, cancer might spread to other breaks, skin changes and rash constipation I’m used to I think these are meant to make you better but with me I’m dying especially worrying about the rash as had horrendous rash all over my body that needed antibiotics and left me with 2 leg ulcers just above ankle so painfull, then she started talking about taking left breast out as a precaution what I said I’ll wait till lump appear, no more surgery for a while, radiotherapy team says can take up to a year for things to settle down, I really don’t need all this just want to be pain free, every time I go to hospital they find something new fed up, would get drunk but alcohol doesn’t agree with me now, and my eldest granddaughter has left home with her partner to life ion Barnsley as he plays football for Barnsley fc, so house is quite till 4 thanks for letting me get this out of my system ranting thanks mickyboy

We’re all here for you.
This is the place to freely vent.

Sorry to hear what youre going through. The radiotherapy unit can give you a gel which helps the itching. Its better than anything i tried myself. But they certainly dont let you know whsts available, you need to ask. Good luck

I second aveeno cream life saver for me

Hi Mickeyboy
So sorry to hear about everything that you’ve been through. I have had lots of allergies since having chemotherapy and have to take an antihistamine tablet every day to calm down itchiness, I don’t know if that will help with your rash. I recently had a shingles vaccination and had an allergic reaction to it, the rash was driving me crazy, I was given a calamine lotion cream and a hydrocortisone cream and eventually the rashed cleared up but I still itch if I don’t take an antihistamine every day.
When I had radiotherapy I was told that I would have to apply factor 50 sun tan cream to the area where I’d had radiotherapy, the radiotherapy team gave me a huge pump action bottle of moisturising cream called zero base and I used that after treatment, I don’t know if it’s a cream that can be bought over the counter but you should be able to get it on prescription. I have heard that Aveeno is also good. I was given a tip to put it in the fridge to cool your skin down.
I hope that things start to settle down and improve for you.

Thanks for replying yes I to have had lots of all allergies since starting cancer meds, got a new one now letrozole have been putting off taking as read side effects and bit apprehensive about taking it, plus last consultation they spoke about removing left breast I said no not yet this is all very scary what with my leg ulcers which was brought on by last cancer meds I’m not to keen on more surgery keep well mick
