Hi
Have any of you heard of dragon boating to help breast cancer survivors. If you are interested in helping to set up a team in Manchester please let me know. I currently have five interested ladies but we need more. A dragon boat holds 20 with the helm and drummer.

I’ll try to dig out some info we have been sent - there is a group that do it up in Wigan - they may be able to offer advice, and there is always the possibility of competitions!

I’m already paddling with a Group in Windermere and Wigan. It’s a team here in Manchester that we need. I will organise a meeting in the Manchester area in June so that we can all get together and discuss fund raising etc. I’m currently in discussion regarding water to house a boat. Keep the idea in your head and don’t go away!!

We also need friends and family to support us so don’t worry about your expanding social lives, they can come and join us.

I’ve managed to find a venue to hold a meeting to discuss a Manchester Breast Cancer Dragon Boat team at St Pauls Church, Egerton Road, Monton, Eccles on Saturday, 2nd July at 10.00am. If you’re interested please let me know for numbers.

Its not a race a such. I’m trying to establish a BC dragon boat team here in Manchester. It will be a while before we can participate in any races. Thanks for the support though, I’ll bear this in mind.

the meeting went ahead on Saturday and it looks like we might have at least 15 ladies who want to paddle with us. We have a few ideas up our sleeves on how to get this moving a little faster and another meeting will be organised towards the end of July. I’ll email all those who’ve exressed interest with the details.
