I’d keep driving test hopefully you will be fine and yes such long waiting lists! Hope all goes well @hasnae87 and that you enjoy Eid with your family
Hope all goes well !
Hello everyone.
Starting chemo on Friday with paclitaxel and herceptin then radiotherapy and tamoxifen.
Diagnosed on 4 Nov with DCIS but after surgery identified 2 areas of invasive, ER/PR&HER2.
53, with 2 kids and 2 stepkids. Mostly worried about having chemo through my daughter’s a levels and keen to see how I’ll be so I can make work plans.
Have been lurking over the weekend but figured I needed to dive in!
So much useful information on here!
Oncology appt yesterday… OncotypeDX result not back yet but CT scans show 3 more lymph nodes most likely affected. So with the 2 they took out this makes 5 and therefore they are recommending chemo.
The CT also showed something in my pelvis so I’m having an MRI too. They say it looks like benign bone islands but the stage 4 worryometer is on high alert!
I’m being booked in to start EC/T in 2 weeks.
It’s quite an emotional ride at the moment but I’ve been prepared for chemo before. Xx
Hope all goes well for you ![]()
Sorry you’re not getting clear answers yet. Waiting for more scans and results is so difficult
hopefully very soon you’ll get updates!! Stay well ![]()
Hi everyone, I finally got some good news today, that my tumor shrinked a bit already after 1 cycle! Feeling hopeful but also a bit afraid to be excited since improvements with cancer are so reversible…
My oncologist decided to postpone immunotherapy though since my liver tests got worse. She said it was fine but I got a bit upset ![]()
Also booked my hair shaving appointment for Friday, can’t stand seeing huge patches of hair lying around.
I hope this week goes well for everyone! ![]()
First chemo today for me. I’m starting with 4 cycles of EC then 4 of T. Dreading it but ready to do this. The sooner it starts the sooner it finishes. I’ll let you all know how I get on. Thanks for everyones updates. I’ve found it so helpful. X
Hello everyone, finally I have a date for my chemotherapy it’s the 27th of March after my port insertion on the 25th.
I am bit scared as you don’t know what to expect for first round and how my body will react to all the drugs.
I will have Docetaxel and carboplatin,PHESGO injections
Will try my best to check my temperature 3 times a day, keep hydrated and walk if I can.
Hi there I remember us both having surgery at similar times. I started chemo yesterday so we’re both on same timescale. My biggest tip is drink lots of water, take anti sickness tabs at the right time, set alert on your phone. And rest. Today my energy levels are low, I’ve got up to make food and had a wander in garden but now resting on the bed. Plus tonight you might not sleep much due to steroids! You’ll be absolutely fine x
I know it’s really hard waiting for results but it’s good you don’t have to make the decision about chemo and it’ll start soon. I had my first chemo yesterday. Went ok, like a military operation. Drink 2 litres of water day before, on day and after as it helps x
Ooo that’s good advice about the water the day before. I’ve been collecting up all the tips I can find for weeks so I’ll add this one too!
I’m still waiting for chemo dates but I’ve got my MRI through for next week.
So glad to hear your first chemo went well. Do you have a PICC line or port or something else?
Thx x
I have a picc line, had it fitted last Fri. Bit sore for a couple of days but now fine. They do chemo, blood through it. Saves the veins! With a picc line you need it flushed every week at hospital. Blood tests can be done at drs surgery or hospital. I’m getting mine done at gp surgery as only at the end of my road. I was like you and keeping a note of other people’s suggestions. If you’re having cold cap then take 2 paracetamol before. When you have ec it is put in with nurse next to you and she inserts it by syringe into picc or canula. When you go to toilet it’ll be bright red! Don’t panic it’s the ec drugs and goes with lots of water. So really increase your uptake! If I have any more tips then I’ll pass them on. I’m a newbie like you so keen to share any ideas x
Cycle 1 of EC done. Nothing major to report other than I’m so glad the first one is ticked off. The fear of the unknown is definitely worse than the reality. Nurse had a bit of bother finding a decent vein for cannula so they’ve recommended I have a pic line before my next cycle. One thing I was surprised about was that the nurse was beside me the whole time and injecting the drug manually from a syringe. I just assumed it’d be hanging with the saline drip and I’d be left alone. It was nice to have a wee blether.
Immediate side effects have been the bright red pee and the awful metallic taste from the cyclophosphamide
. Will that go away?
I’ve got anti sickness meds and steroids home with me as well as the injections.
Setting alerts on my phone right now. Thanks ![]()
Well done! Your first one is over like me, tonight take the tabs as directed and drink loads of water. I kept ginger biscuits next to my bed last night and grazed on them. Today I feel like I’ve got a bad hangover and flushed face. Red face is because of the steroids x
I think I love that you’re a day ahead of me - keep me right! Are you cold capping? I decided not to.
6 days post first EC cycle, so far so good, stopped steroids on Monday morning, started filgistrim jabs that night with 1 paracetamol, (didnt take pil last night), no SE, yesterday and today think I got chemo brain, feeling fuzzy headed but in general pretty good, woke at 2am feeling weird, woosy, It dose seem to ease if I eat something, I was hoping to enjoy my soup at lunchtime… couldn’t taste it, sausage mash and peas tonight, smells devine lol
Oh no. Not tasting is the pits. Hope that doesn’t last long. Enjoy the smell of your bangers and mash ![]()
I would keep ginger biscuits next to your bed then you can eat when you get the horrible feeling.
