March 2025 chemo starters

Just FYI following 1st dose Docetaxal last Tuesday. The aches etc started Friday and been ongoing, thought improving but not very much even dosed on paracetamol and ibuprofen. Been a bit miserable tbh. Got extra pain relief yesterday but now in assessment unit cos of temp. Fine in myself but they’re checking for neutropenia. After flying through EC (relatively) this has brought me up short! Just a blip I know but feel like I’ve just lost 5 days to SE - annoying

I really hope you’re ok. Good you’re getting checked over. Take care x

I feel for you. I didn’t like EC but I didn’t get any awful SE’s. But this first paclitaxel has knocked me for six. The bone pains were depressing and I’m now day 4 in hospital with a temperature.

Hope you get to go home after your blood results

Thanks both. Neutropenia (0.2 - last week it was 2.8 before Docetaxal dose). Two IV antibiotics, plus a week of antibiotic tablets. The chemo drug leak has flared and they think that’s site of infection. Agreed I could come home (literally just got home) if sensible. Any issues tonight straight to ED. Have to be at clinic in morning to repeat bloods, might mean extra doses filgastrim

Good news is the pains have pretty much stopped!

This might repeat after subsequent doses (but only two to go) - at least I know what to expect/be aware of

For future doses I now have naproxen and codeine in case for pains - hopefully you will be given something extra too! Hope you feel better soon

3rd EC done today! Now I’m hoping for an easier time as it was on a reduced dose again and tapering steroids. I’ll be happy in 10 days and through any side effects and then I’ll be able to say I’ve made it thru the brutal EC!
Then onto weekly paclitaxal. The dose I’m being given is much lower so hoping this will be ok as I’ve got 12 weeks
Night all
Proud of you all x

Yes 4th night in hospital now :disappointed:
If no temperature overnight I should be able to go home tomorrow :crossed_fingers:t2:

@lauzloo sorry to hear you have to deal with these SE :expressionless: every body is so different, you never know what to expect. Hopefully you feel much better soon! :muscle:

I choose to have a blood transfusion since my hemoglobin is very low and I’m so tired of being out of breath all the time. Also no make up can cover my pallor and dark circles now. Tbh I don’t like a thought of having someone’s blood in me but they said they could cover a bag so I don’t see it

How are you today?

Hi there, I’m feeling ok, feel like I’ve got a hangover so I haven’t done much. Fingers crossed I have an easier time once the steroids stop. I’ll be pleased when I’m through the first week and out the other side. How are you? X

How are you x

I’m home :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:
They wanted to keep me one more night but I was desperate to get home to the children and I was temperature free 48hours so they agreed.
On oral antibiotics now for 5 days

Hi

Today is the day, mum is having her first chemo. It will be roughly 6 hours only for today as observation is also included since it’s her first time. Don’t know whether I’m feeling anxious or glad, just mixed feelings hehe.

Can she wear her compression socks during chemo and do you continue wear them over night or you can take it off once chemo done

What to take with you for first chemo any tips

I was the same last night; I was awake til 330am! My face is v red again today x

Thanks for the update, glad it went well. My ec went ok, I’m now dreading the next few days as it’s usually when it hits me hardest. But I’m on a further reduced dose so I’m hoping it won’t be as bad. But at least I know it’s my last EC. Hope paclitaxel is easy on us. Keep in touch xx

Ive found Pacs to be ok and recover far quicker each week than when i have pacs and carbo together so really hope you have an easier ride on it. Felt wiped last 2 days (had it on wed) but feel stronger today and hoping to get out and do some gardening!
Heres hoping for a smooth ride this weekend for everyone🤞
