@stafford22 totally got it, some people need to put a filter on their tongue.
@mum-a-lums30 my oncologist stopped chemo at 4 rounds as it took toll on me now waiting for surgery mid July, it’s good that you telling your mum that it’s the last to hang in there.
Some people are so insensitive! I would avoid seeing them and stick with friends/family who make you feel better and give you the space to talk about how you’re feeling and what you’re going through.
I’m here just supporting my mum through her treatment and I can see it’s brutal. You are being incredibly brave and resilient and you also have the right to be sad and scared and you can’t always feel positive about things but that doesn’t mean tomorrow won’t be a better, more positive day! xx
Thank you. It’s really hard, I’ve now done 15 weeks of chemo and got 6 to go and I’m feeling battered both mentally and physically. It’s a long journey and there’s good and bad days x
Hi everyone, catching up with all your messages after a long time and can i say how proud I am of all of us! We’re going thru so much and what I see is resilience through vulnerability and not giving up. When i started treatment my very good friend, who also had breast cancer said just take it a day at a time and that’s been the best advice.
I’m sorry to hear about insensitive comments, some people don’t realise what they’re saying, don’t let it get you down
@lauzloo you look great! My hair started coming out day 13 of my first cycle. I got my sister to cut mine gradually more and more, by cycle 2 I’d had it shaved off, i felt much better. I actually felt worse when my brows and lashes fell out.
@under_the_sea congrats on finishing your chemo. I feel the same, feel relieved but no celebrations as my surgery is end of July- feeling a bit nervous but trying to get thru this last cycle first.
@stafford It is hard, but hang in there, you’ve already done alot, and 6 mre wks to go- you got this!
I had my last chemo this Weds, 6 cycles every 3 wks and it’s been a rollercoaster, sometimes taking it half day, or even hour at a time-small wins. My surgery is end if July but for now trying to get thru this last cycle.
Lots of love to you all and let’s keep fighting xx
Thank you. I’ve just made a new countdown calendar and I’ve got 39 days left of chemo! I started on 147 days! I honestly can’t wait for it to be over. I’ve found it v hard and it’s been a long slog x
@lemoncake well done and congratulations on your last chemo! I hope you get through the last cycle all ok. Unfortunately I’ve just landed myself an infection and on antibiotics but Ive avoided a stay in hospital so that is good!
I seem to be getting nervous the closer I get to surgery but we will be ok and it means it will be gone hopefully xx
I had a meeting with a surgeon today and got a date of the surgery - in 10 days.
I got so overwhelmed that I went home and just cried… It’s so much to digest
The surgeon told that radiotherapy can shrink the breast a lot and create disproportion so I might need a surgery on my healthy breast in the future to make it even. Not something I expected…but then it’s a later problem, one day at a time as everyone says
I have 53 days left. I think we are on a similar regime but in reverse @stafford22 I’ve done 12x weekly paclitaxel/carbo and now onto 4 cycles of EC. It is 100% a long long slog. So happy to see some of us nearing the end it gives me hope I will get through this… if the EC doesn’t finish me off first Big love to all the ladies still going and sending us all strength.
You’ve been on quite a path with your treatment @chita it must be a lot when the plan changes. Cry it out when you need. All of this is so much to deal with. Are you having lumpectomy or mastectomy?
Interesting about the radiotherapy and recon. Not really been told about any reconstruction options but I will make a note to ask surgeon at my next appointment about this.
Yes we’re the same in reverse, it’s a long old slog! I’ve got 39 days left. I honestly have great joy crossing them off. My gp has increased my anti depressant so I’m hoping this will also help as it’s starting to lower my mood as I’m so tired. We will get there x
So many moxed emotions going on at the moment. As we are all getting closer to the end, some finishing chemo and moving onto the next stage! Ticking the days off. I am on a similar journeynto you @wren8 just had my 2nd EC and hoping its better than the first. Ended up in hospital febrile neutropenic and anaemic. But its a good feeling to thunk i only have 2 more cycles. End date 6th Aug at moment.
@stafford22 def ticking those days off now. Hope your chanhe in meds helps for your last few weeks of this.
@chita so much to take in and prepare for surgery. Its ok to be nervous about this next stage. I am still very much in chemo mindset and will have to shift it to surgery nearer the time. One step at a time.
Sending lots of love to everyone in these final days/weeks of chemo and onwards. We have all.done so well to get this far after the battering our bodies have had x
My last chemo is on Wednesday. However, I now have peripheral neuropathy (I thought I’d avoided it!) I’m not sure whether it will affect my final chemo going ahead?
EC is brutal on hair but on the weekly paclitaxel my hair is starting to grow back. It’s little things like this that really help. Losing my hair was traumatic along with everything else x
I’ll have a lumpectomy and then radiotherapy. Then I decided to fix my second breast in 6-12 months, I need to recover first physically and mentally.
Will you have radiotherapy?
