Poor you! Everyone’s experience seems so variable and I guess different drug combinations too. @Shi advice is good, do ask for extra support from your team, don’t suffer in silence!

I took filgastrim about 6.30pm or 7pm with a paracetamol - didn’t have issues first cycle. In bed by 10pm or 1030pm and slept through.

Evening jabs might help? My nurse said big bone pain shouldn’t be enough to wake you at night - it didn’t wake me . Might help? On morning after the 5th jab I needed a paracetamol or two in the day but really was minor (I know I have been lucky so far though)

Thank you for your kind advice. I am on first round so I am learning as I go along how to manage side effects and advice from others who have experienced similar is invaluable. I feel like such a wimp when I read what others have been through, especially the ladies with young children. I think you are all amazing and with your support I feel I can get through this xxxx

So sorry everyone is going through this… I’ve been reading and dipping in & out for a while now actually before I was even diagnosed I rang the helpline on here which was a comfort to me.

I’m 39, triple negative I’ve been on 12 rounds of taxol including 4 of carbolplatin they tried 1 round of immunotherapy but my liver couldn’t deal with it. I made it to 6 rounds of taxol but did all carbolplatin I’m now on 4 rounds of EC I’ve had my 2nd one Tuesday. Worst effects for me is the nausea, better as the day goes on.

I’ve cold capped throughout, hair did shed but not noticeable on my head, leg hair, armpit hair & below gone, eye lashes gone but all came back recently! It’s so up and down but I just know in a few days time I will be myself again, I have to I’ve got a 3 year old boy and we’ve tried to normalise everything as much as possible because he doesn’t need this imprinted on him at this age.

Wishing you all the best of luck, I will have 2 more rounds of EC then an MRI, surgery & 15 rounds of radiotherapy xx

Hi @usagimoon, i started my first chemo on the 5 March too. Hi to all March starters, i don’t feel so alone now. This first week has been challenging and i know every body is different but it’s trying to gage whether what you’re feeling is to be expected. I’m taking it day by day. I’ve been taking the phesgo injections at home for 7 days after my first cycle and still think I’m adjusting to them. If anyone has had to do the same, did you feel OK or did you have any side effects. Praying we all get thru this together and keep our spirits up thru each other!

@chita sorry to hear about your hairloss, your defiantly brave for the shave, not sure I will be able to look in the mirror, this is still scaring me, not looking forward to it.
@feck glad your doing ok with the jabs, I’m dreading starting them.

Have a look at the video on Nolan link I posted. I found that and the article really reassuring. Only takes a minute (I am well padded - maybe that helps?). Don’t feel the jab tbh. Good luck. I start my second lot of 5 on Saturday.

First chemo EC done, my BP was up last night but I checked this morning and it was normal, (it was slightly up at the unit but nurse said this is normal from the stress) I have had red wee but it already appears to be getting lighter so drinking tuns of water is clearly flushing it through  The thing that got me worried was when the nurse said I will be taking home injections of Filgastrim, after reading on here peoples SE, I said “oh no, that gives you bone pain” he looked at me and nodded with a sad look on his face. I’ve also got anti sickness, something for constipation and steroid tablets for 5 days, which he said I will start to feel the fatigue the day after stopping :frowning:

I’m going to pop below a rundown of the day, I hope it helps others who are anxious to begin, I did have a few tears when I first walked in, which surprised me as I’d been feeling ok but the nurse who did my tests explained everything and said all the chemo nurses are lovely and fully trained, so I was calm by the time I went into the unit:) we are fortunate to be a centre of excellence in cancer care and apparently all the nurses are chemo trained, whereas some other hospitals have only one, which was a surprise to hear.

1: Give reception your treatment card, you collect it when you leave and your next appointments are added
2: nurse will take Weight/Height/BP/Temp/Blood Oxygen, then take to into the unit
3: I had anti sickness 1hr before treatment and was told on my next cycles i take 1 at home an hour before, so i wont have to wait on the unit for it to kick in, steroids, 15 min saline infusion, then aprox 10 min injection into canular of E, then 15 min infusion of C, lastly a 5 min flush. During this time I was offered a drink (I took a flask of mint tea and another one of juice), a sandwich and cake which went down realy well, my husband even got a tea and biscuits.

Thankfully I had no reaction at canular site, not even metallic taste, which nurse said some people get, I managed to go shopping after and do 30 min walk on treadmill (it decided to hale stones just as we were about to go out) and so far I’m feeling realy good, kind of revealed to get the first one out of the way and it realy wasn’t as bad as I’d imagined. Good luck to all my buddies big virtual hugs and love to you all, thank you for being here xxx

QUESTION anti sickness pills just say take when required, I’m guessing the ones I had pre treatment will cover me for today but have you started to take them the next morning just in case?

I saw a sign saying no photography so I asked chemo nurse if it was ok, my mascot is called Captain Hudson, he is my incentive to get through the awful treatments and book a cruise for next year (already looking at March to Japan  We follow emmacruises.com on You Tube, this is her real cat, she had these made for a charity called mercyships.org.uk ALL proceeds go to them, they have 2 hospital ships that provide operations to those that would otherwise not have access to them, one is currently in Sierra Leone and all the staff are volunteers, she has a video about her recent invite on board. If you would like one, see if you can get on the wait list, mine is version 5 and they do sell out.

Yes I took one actually on the same day but I had really bad sickness couldn’t stop for a while. I take antisickness the next day you can always call the ward /nurses to make sure. X

Took all my anti sickness as prescribed days 1,2,3 as well as steroids and felt great

Day 4 on first cycle didn’t take any more but this time day 4 have taken 1 simply as a tiny bit of background nausea (or maybe I’m hungry). If you need them, take them I would say.

Hi everyone.

Hope things are manageable for everyone so far. I’m due to start on 19th March (all going “well”). I had to have an unexpected second surgery one week ago but I’m hoping oncologist will still pet me go ahead. Sooner it starts the sooner it’s over. I’m due to have 4 rounds of EC (every 2 weeks) and 4 rounds of T (also every 2 weeks). Not gonna lie I’m absolutely dreading it. Feeling shitty and having people look at me like I’ve got cancer is my main worry. I’ve got an appointment this weekend for a wig and I’ve decided to take my husband and 3 kids with me - can’t imagine anyone will be more honest about how I look than my 13 year old daughter!! :joy:

Good luck to everyone. I’ve really appreciated reading all the posts. It’s so helpful to know I’m not alone :kissing_heart:

My hair started falling out the day before session 3 and yesterday the day after round 3 it was coming out a lot and my head has been painful. Let’s see how today goes but I think it will have to come off very soon.

I’ve been given my first chemo date which is Tuesday. Had picc line fitted today.
3 x 3weekly ec
12 x weekly pac

Then radiotherapy

Bit scared about starting. Had pre chemo call today and they’ve given me stronger anti sickness. They’ll give it to me at time of first chemo and will last 5 days. Anyone else on this? Is it good? X

Mine started falling out on day 2 after the 3rd session. Very suddenly, the evening before was ok, next morning tones of hair lying around :grimacing:

So far it’s not visible but as soon as I start seeing bald spots, I’ll shave. Bald spots I’m not ready for, somehow feels very traumatic for me

@Shi I got out of hospital on Monday with more antibiotics and doing ok but the fatigue is real!

Also started losing my hair, which is only 2 weeks after my first cycle, but they did warn me about this. I’ve had my hair cut short then when i get bald patches I’ll either wear a headscarf and/or shave haven’t decided yet.

I did have a wig appt today and just got to wait for them to come through then I can try them on and decide which one I like.

I think you are all doing amazing, we can do this Ladies x
