Oh @foxgem the constipation is the worst, my first cycle it really became an obsession as I didn’t have a movement for 5 days (TMI I know), because I wasn’t consistent with the laxatives. I was doing all the fibre and all the yoga poses
My chemo nurse was horrified when I told her. So cycle 2 I was on it with the laxatives, 2 senna tablets the night of treatment, then 5 dioctyl the next day plus Movicol and day 2 was a lot more comfortable. Then toned it down from there to one senna at night and the dioctyl but no Movicol, keeping the fibre in the diet and doing lots of movement and obviously tons of fluids. It’s a weird balancing act to not go to far the other way!
@foxgem I ended up at the cancer assessment unit with constipation on day 6 this first round, had to have suppositories. Not glam. Have had Laxido sachets prescribed and am just taking 1 two times every day regardless of whether things are moving. Will probably increase over those three days with the big anti sickness to compensate. That, plus all the fibre and alllllll the water. I’m really not up for constant constipation if I can possibly help it… !!
Also like your reflections on this round for next, I’m a day behind you I think so thinking similarly about what I’ll do this time! Proactive anti sickness, don’t eat too much when I’m feeling okay immediately post infusion, and keep myself not too warm are my main things…
This is all so helpful - thanks everyone.
I have had EC#2 6 days ago and the head hair shedding is happening now (despite cold capping and following the guidance). I am accelerated (1 x fortnight rather than 3 weekly). I think this element is going to be hard for me.
Otherwise symptoms are mainly fatigue - more this cycle than last. Still managing to eat a lot.
Gross tip I remember from post childbirth for constipation (sorry if TMI) is pop each foot on a stood up full loo roll whilst sat on the loo (or another box / step) to bring your knees higher up relative to the loo seat….
@herts82 I think your chemo plan is identical to mine. How did you find cycle 3 and 4 of EC relative to the earlier ones?
@katie91 your wig looks great!
Love to all x
