Yes very red tomato face same as before. I think it took a few days to settle down. Doesn’t cause any pain or anything thankfully
Hahaha it has begun! I haven’t shaved my legs since my 2nd op in feb… counting down the days to lose those hairs ![]()
Oh no itchy!
Same here! It feels very weird, not sure I like the baldy lady garden
. It’s like being naked! It’s not been itching thankfully but just feels….bare!
All my leg and arm hair has disappeared and my underarm just isn’t growing. Thank goodness facial hair hanging on!
Anyway, as you say we need to have a laugh about something. I’m feeling super tired this afternoon which isn’t like me. Just hope it’s not those bloody neutrophils dipping ![]()
Even before cancer we sometimes needed a lazy day ![]()
Thanks @jululemon I went for a little walk around the shop to pick some bits up to keep me and the kids busy in the garden this week and back home now with a brew on the sofa. Hoping I get a full night’s sleep tonight, not like after the 1st round when I was wide awake from the steroid buzz ![]()
How are you feeling after your 2nd cycle xx
Hahahaha nothing is TMI on here ![]()
![]()
That’s so funny!! I’ve shaved my legs last week and thinking baout it they’ve not grown much, I won’t bother with the lady garden I’ll let nature take its course… Saves me a job
hope you’re doing well bald Gardens aside ![]()
xx
Ohhhhh I’ve got all this to come haven’t I ![]()

That doesn’t sound like you being tired, don’t know where you are but the weather in Manchester today has gone so grey and miserable it just feels like an autumn day to wrap up in a warm blanket on the sofa with a brew!! Hopefully you just need abit of rest and a good night’s sleep xx
Thanks @katie91 , I’m over in Matlock and yes it’s gone grey and windy and wet. Just as we were getting used to spring weather. I had a little nap and watched some crap on tv as whilst I love reading my eyes were just too tired. and felt much better!
@katie91 congrates on the 2nd EC. I get the whole hair thing. I havent cold capped but am now completly bald, I just avoid mirrors if im not wearing a hat. I have just completed cycle 3 of EC today so thats over with now hoping its kinder to me this time. I then like you move onto Docetaxel. Wishing you a calm evening xx
Oh it’s lovely in Matlock
sounds like a much needed chilled afternoon! Hope you get a good rest tonight as well xx
Thanks Sammy!!
Its alot isn’t it and if I wasn’t going through it myself would find the whole worry about hair rather vain, but now I get it!!! On top of everything else it’s the last thing we should have to be dealing with but I do need to remember that it is temporary and we’re so lucky to have cold capping as an option/wigs/beautiful head scarves and hats now!!
Are your docetaxel every 3 weeks? You’ll have to keep me posted so I know what I’ve got coming next!! How are you feeling? You were quite poorly with infections last round weren’t you?
Well done on completling all 3 rounds
I remember how unsure you were of having it at first and look at you now half way through!!! What a milestone Xx
@katie91 thank you. Yes had a really tough time with chemo in general, but I guess we all react differently and guess because I was always so scared of chemo it didnt help.
Im looking forward to getting through the next stage. Im walking down that chemo mountain now ![]()
And yes my cyckes will stay every 3 weeks x
hello all, just completed my first chemo cycle on Weds last week and resurfacing from that. I should have started in Feb but had three adverse reactions to the first drug no matter what the hospital tried to manage it. Oncologist now thinks I am allergic to the drugs carrier and has switched me straight to nab-paxitaxel instead of paxitaxel. ( plus carboplatin and Phesgo) have to say so far it’s been less rough on all three than on less than. 5ml of ducotaxel(sp), that wiped me out for days each time and the side effects were dreadful. taste has seriously been impacted though. fave foods taste like acid and I suspect boring bland and beige are calling. Any tips as water tea etc all currently tastes awful and I have resorted to using sugar cordials to flavour the stuff so I can drink.
You’re very right we all react so differently and like my Nurse was saying today that isn’t a reflection of how well its working or anything on us but simply how our internal bodies are processing a very strong drug! You’ve done absolutely amazing and should be so proud of how far you’ve come. I looooove that you’re coming down the mountain I’m very close to that peak!!!
Xx
Hey @wibbles sounds like you’ve had a rough time to get where you are now! I’m glad they’ve found something that will work with you
I only had the taste issues for a day or 2 on my 1st round of EC and lived on ice pops and fruit for about 24 hours then was craving hot, salty mcdonalds chips which tasted absolutely amazing! I’m afraid I don’t have any other suggestions but hopefully somebody else on here will. Xx
Well done getting to cycle 3 @sammy75 what a relief I’m sure ![]()
Hi @wibbles its nice to meet you
Glad to hear you’ve surfaced from the chemo fog. Onwards and upwards now hopefully. I struggled with taste on my first round of EC but nothing at all this 2nd round. Pineapple is supposed to be great to help with taste issues as well as being good for you so its worth a try. I ate a whole tin of it on my chemo day this time, maybe it did the trick. I also found I drunk more when I had plain soda water. I didnt even need to add any flavour to it
Frozen pineapple is meant to be good for mouth ulcers, a lady at boots pharmacy told me about it.
Not sure how I start a new thread!
I have a couple of queries (Day 5 of Chemo 1) i was given a prescription for high fluoride toothpaste for when I needed it. As it’s prophylactic- should I be using it now or is there a tooth-killer treatment ahead?
Failed at my first self-jab today. 2 hour wait at hospital - nurse said to wait till next pre chemo and see how test goes. Silly me! She showed me how to do it tomorrow on a swab. (Why didnt I get the demo when i was given them??)
My pre-op jab last week was 2 hours for a ten minute wait, too. The nurses are all lovely but so over stretched - is this other people’s experience? I need to have my PICC dressing changed tomorrow - my heart is sinking at the thought of the wait…How pathetic is that?
The 5 days went fine, though. Maybe it’s finally catching up on me!
