@2kittens max dose fenofexadine has massively helped my rash. It’s a non drowsy antihistamine. It’s different to cetrazadine and loratadine. I took it for a few weeks last summer for bad hayfever and insect bites when I was abroad on the recommendation of a very allergic friend. The oncology team prescribed it for me about 3 weeks ago for my paclitaxel rash and it’s made a huge difference. I’d ask for that plus some steroid cream (I haven’t needed to use it but it’s handy to have as a back up).
Oh hello day 5 jitters and weird skin/muscle pain, here we are again.
I’ve already had a whopper of a morning after a night time panic attack and mapped out the next 3 years of my life but back to the now…. Let’s get through the next couple of days
I really hope you can make the birthday party @2kittens! I had my oldest’s 4th party this week (which far less sensibly was not planned outside, but inside, and I am convinced I’ve caught every bug). Knocked me out quite a bit, so resting up before EC4 this week.
@foxgem hope you are doing OK today. Sorry to hear about last night - those small hours are lonely ones when wide awake. Hope the next 3 years are going to be good ones
Sorry to hear you’ve had a bumpy time @foxgem. You are strong - we all are - and you’ll get through it . We all have rocky moments. Hope you can enjoy the rest of the day
I had a horrible allergic reaction in the night. Controlled it with chlorphenamine (piriton) antihistamines but I was the colour of a tomato on my face and chest, a little breathless and very mildly wheezy. Once they kicked in the breathing was much better but as soon as it wears off I get breathy again. Had my last extra steroids this morning.
Day 5 seems to be my super tired day too. Unloaded washing machine onto the airer (too wet for the line!) but had to sit on the floor to do it. Felt like an ancient woman!
Hey everyone hope you’re all doing OK! I don’t think to come on here as much towards the end of my cycle when I’m feeling back to normal but just popping back on to say hi and hope you’re all doing well!!
We’ve had 2 weeks of school holiday fun/chaos and my 5 year old has just come out in chicken pox, not sure if that’s a concern with chemo!? Anyway I’ll ring tomorrow and ask!
I’ve got my 3rd EC on Tuesday which will make half way and the LAST of EC!!! EDITED TO ADD I’ve just spoken to the 24 hour hotline that advised to get confirmation tomorrow of if it is chicken pox and chemo may be delayed!! Annoying but if it’s the safest option so be it, just hoping my 2 year old doesn’t pick them up too!!!
I’m going to ask. I might call them and see if they can send it with the nurse to the PICC line appt I’ve got at my local hospital tomorrow. Or do you think my GP could help?
Glad you’ve been enjoying Easter! Sorry to hear about the chicken pox. I asked my oncologist about it vaguely (my baby was due to be vaccinated for it now NHS has brought it in, and given it’s a live vaccine it said not to be around immunosuppressed people). Ultimately onco said go ahead with vaccine though still not got round to having it done! So living in fear it’ll come home from nursery. I guess whether you had chicken pox may have an impact? Hope it doesn’t affect you too badly. If it does delay chemo hopefully it means a few more days feeling good before the next round and as ever better to be safe. Xxx
I second @sam1204, speak with the oncology team. they will have far more idea if this is an allergic reaction and be able to offer a far greater range of supportive options that are more likely to help. I take photos of what my skin decides to pull as well as notes as that helps my oncologist to help me. allergies and chemo are not the best.
hope all goes well for you and the hospital can offer something that works for you.
Woke to find a fine scattering of my very short hair all over my pillow and bold beanie. Not so much in hunks like some have lost but noticeably thinning. no wonder my head felt cold this morning.
Now I know why I choose to cut it so short. downside is I only have one cotton headwrap so DH will be asked to order some extra ones from Suburban Turban tonight. GOing for comfort over pure style at this point. I found out my skin does not like the viscose ones and the silk ones need some hair to purchase on.
Yep, that’s what I had @wibbles , short bits of hair all over pillow and then in hat during the day. It’s really slowed down now if not stopped altogether. You may not end up completely bald . But yes it’s bloody cold!!
