March 2026 chemo starters

@wibbles i have a boost. Have the NHS one but so heavy. Ive only wore the boost one once but so lightweight it was really for when i go back to work.

@foxgem hope you are well. I am also flat after mascetomy as I didnt want reconstruction. Only you will know what is best for you. Is radiation now not part of your plan!

Sending you love

That doesn’t seem right @foxgem - why are they not listening to you ! Have you ever listened to Liz O’Riordan? I’ve delved into her podcasts and they can be informative - I’m sure she did one around surgery although I haven’t listened to that yet as still not had mine. I think in this above all we should be able to choose - by all means give us options and time to think through and consider but in the end our lives and what works best for them are surely the most important factor.

@katie91 I too have low hemaglobin it is now down to 93 from 97. CNS said it happens this far into treatment.
I have also started drinking orange juice once a day and followed @sam1204 advice I have the 90% chocolate 2 squares every night my neutroohils have gone from 1.6 to.5.6. I have done nothing but rest since cycle 2 as like you wanted to protect my final cycle you have smashed it though so far x

Yay well done @katie91 for getting to number 5! I’ve felt really done in by the Docetaxel (although this hot weather hasn’t helped) so I’m wondering if my counts might be a bit low. I’ll take on board the cocoa and other food tips - trying to get food down when your mouth is so sore and you can hardly swallow is the hard part ! Feel like that might be coming to an end now so I need to push on to the next one too with protein and cocoa !!

I hope the next week is kind and armed with all the mouth wash tips you find this one a little better. The rib pain though :flushed_face::flushed_face::flushed_face: xxxx

I’ve had my first one last week so still another 2 to go . I had x3 EC first which I feel I coped with better to be honest - not a walk in the park but I seemed to recover more quickly from the side effects than this time around. I guess there’s also the cumulative effect so maybe that’s part of it too - just feel more fatigued and not really been doing the exercise I managed to get in with EC. Tomorrow is day 10 (and hopefully cooler than today) so hoping for better things. Last injection night and I can already feel my mouth and throat is less sore, the indigestion isn’t as acute and the pain is subsiding a little so hopes for a better week ahead !

32 posts since I last checked in - have mostly been lurking though. @foxgem some big decisions for you but echo everyone who is saying it’s your choice. Hopefully the plastic surgery consult will help not hinder. I’ve got my first surgery consult on 10 June but I’m only looking at one side. I’m trying to think of all the questions I have. Maybe it would be worth phoning the Breast Cancer Now nurse line to talk through or talking things over with your breast care nurse? I usually find more opinions help me to work out what I think.

I’m in for docetaxel 2/3 now, overall round 6/7. Feeling the anticipation of finishing up the infusions. Looking forward to center parcs after last round!! Like others I’ve had lots of mouth symptoms with docetaxel, but feeling more prepared to take care of things upfront this time. A bit of digestive disruption too but keeping up with eating, and have worked pretty much consistently though this last three weeks which has helped the time pass much more easily.

Sending love and hope and joy for whatever you’re meeting in your journey this week. And a bit of the cooler weather from Edinburgh for those down south. My 70+ parents had their massive adult paddling pool out yesterday in SE London!

Brilliant - thank you @foxgem ! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: I echo all the other comments here about your surgery. Your body, your choice - don’t get pushed into something you’re not comfortable with. I was offered DIEP and the simpler silicone implant and opted for the latter as I didn’t want the longer recovery time of the DIEP. Staying flat wasn’t even mentioned in these conversations, but it really should be as not everyone wants the other things. Personally I just wanted it gone and surviving was the goal. Deciding on whether to replace it or not was surprisingly quick for me (I was still in shock I think) but that’s not the case for everyone. Ultimately it’s your decision with so many things to take into account - only you will know what you feel is right and sometimes that takes a bit of mulling, soul searching and finding out as much as you can about all options. I really hope you decide on what feels right for you. Sending you hugs and strength - you’re doing amazingly! :hugs::smiling_face_with_three_hearts: xx

Hi @clarabelle1 I’ve found recovery from the pac takes a bit longer than it did after the EC and guessing it’s just cumulative effect. The last few rounds are probably going to be similar. We can do this and get the other side of it as so many have done! :hugs:

Hope all goes well today @felineoptimist. It feels so good to get another one ticked off doesn’t it xxx I think now we know what to look out for on the next rounds we can at least feel a bit more prepared and take action to mitigate where possible even if it’s just being kind to ourselves and saying yes it’s ok to rest right now xxxx

I’m loving the feel of this thread at the moment! Is the end is in sight? Maybe not the full end as some of us have further surgeries, chemo tablets and hormone tablets and god knows what else but it feels like this step atleast is coming to an end  I think we are all absolutely smashing it though!

You look so happy in this photo @sammy75. So well done getting to this point when I know you haven’t always felt you would get here. I know you’re worried and I totally get that but hopefully you can now focus on getting through the next few weeks and then the after chemo part !

I’m going to hold on to that smile for when it’s my turn - 2 more lovely cycles to go but you’re right @foxgem at least the end of this part of the whole show is starting to feel a bit nearer xxx
