Hi Sam, do you mind me asking is any kind of cocoa powder ok? Something similar to this and how often did you have it each day? Learnt so much reading your posts on here.. thank you

@loopylea doesn’t need to be anything fancy or expensive. As long as it’s 100% cocoa with nothing added,’it works. Can be supermarket own brand or something more pricey like Green and Blacks. It all works! Best added to smoothies, Greek yoghurt, even a coffee to make a mocha. I also mix it with silken tofu and a bit of honey to make a mousse (I posted a recipe for this on the Cancer made me eat thread). Good luck!

Does anybody know if there is anything that can help with mild neuropathy?

I’ve done 3 x EC and 3 docetaxel all 3 weeks apart and have just noticed after the last one on Tuesday slight tingling on hands and fingertips. I eat really well, high protein/iron etc and am active/wlaking/gym etc is there anything else that helps?

Thank you xxxx

@katie91 mainly time should fix it, mine is way better now it’s 6 weeks since last chemo. Otherwise I think any exercise that gets the blood flowing will help. I used to spend a fair bit of time clenching and wiggling my fingers. I was lucky I didn’t get it in my toes.

Ive only had one paclitaxol. 2 good days folowed by 3-4 bad (feet and legs) . Ive found a warm bath helps get over the night time pains and acupuncture helped yesterday. Today has not been marvellous. I don’t want to go back to 12 weekly appointments and will ask the onco if there is a preferred painkiller with fewer sfx than cocodamol. Also if I could have a teeny reduction in dose without losing my 4x2 schedule! I got through EC pretty well and thought I would do better with this. If I have tingly or numb toes later I have a local oxybaric therapy place lined up…I might also give reflexology a go, too. I can’t spend 8 weeks in the bath. Can I???

Honestly couldnt have faced it without you all in my pocket supporting me every step of the way. Thank you so much!

It’s not the end but it’ the end of a big step!

To celebrate we had fish n chips on the beach with some nice drinks. I had some no secco (alcohol free prosecco) it was perfect

Hooray @foxgem !! Hope the side effects are not too unkind and you’re soon feeling more yourself. Lots of the journey still to go but a section done and dusted.

@katie91 The oncology doc I spoke to on the phone before my final docetaxel suggested wearing gloves (I assume maybe washing up gloves?) for things like opening tins/jars/ringpulls or fiddly things that hurt your hands. I’m not getting a lot of this, just tenderness in the very tips of my fingers, but she seemed to imply it wouldn’t hurt to protect the nerves while they’re sensitive. Alternatively, I am just asking helpful husband to do those things  Just a thought!

Does anyone have any good tips for dealing with the yucky mouth tastes? I am really not enjoying the greasy wonky flavours today. Feels like I should be a pro at this by now but it’s doing my head in a bit.

Hey @felineoptimist

I don’t have a cure unfortunately but in terms of masking, XXL Smints are pretty brutal so I double drop those.

Pineapple was my go to and it seemed to work well. Fresh was better than tinned but ive always got tinned in my cupboard now. Sparkling water was good also with some lemon

@felineoptimist anything fizzy worked for me. Fizzy water with orange squash, or kombucha were my go-tos. I don’t have a sweet tooth so difficult finding something fizzy that didn’t set my teeth on edge!!

I’m sure a lot of you will already listen to this podcast, but the latest episode is well worth a listen as regards all the info that’s out there and how it can help or hinder us making treatment decisions. Highly recommend it

Just tried the pineapple and you’re not kidding. I’ve not had any for years and I don’t remember it tasting as good as this!

Only problem I’ve got now is that I’ve run out… :face_savoring_food:

Haha that’s great! My first one during chemo was the same as I hadn’t had fresh pineapple for years
