hi all
ive noticed this week i have a brown patch on my back just to the let of my spine sort of on my shoulder blade
approx 4 inches like a triangle
at the top of it is a bit of scabby/rough skin 2p size

now this is my bad side and i finished my rads end of march

any ideas what it could be

Hi Lincs Lady

I had an itchy area on my back after radiotherapy and was told it was like an exit wound/mark… it all cleared up after 4 months though and never got worse than a slight rough feeling although it did itch like bonkers for a bit!

If you’re worried I’d check with your BCN, don’t leave it and keep worrying.

Take care

Hi Lincs Lady, It could be all sorts of things and may not be related to your previous op. But if it was me I would get in touch with the BCN or Hospital doctor to get it checked out. If they thought it was nothing to do with your previous treatment they may for example refer you to the skin clinic. My Dad has a patch that appeared on his skin that was brown like a tea stain but it was ok. Don’t waste time worrying…call your BCN tomorrow if you can. Let us know how you get on. Take care, Val

I think it is most likely rads - it effects the skin on both sides.

Hi Lincs Lady.

I had radiotherapy on my spine and pelvis (for bone mets) I then started chemo. One morning my bottom was really sore, I looked in the mirror and saw a red square on my back and a big red area on my bum! I was quite worried (I never thought it was the radiotherapy as it had gone in from the front not the back) I got it checked out, the onc said the chemo can start the radiotherapy off again. Both the areas are still there only a lot fainter and browny now (2 years later). Get it checked out but it’s probably the radiotherapy.

Best wishes
Sue
