Hi Amylou
I had 25 rads to MX scar area including lower armpit area, chest wall, collarbone and lower neck area. Have had problems caused by severe reddening (is that a word?) in the armpit, collarbone and neck area but the skin remained intact (apart from my mishap with a sheet!). Up till session 21 my skin was holding up really well and I had very lttle colouring. I am now 2 weeks since I finished and the skin is now calming down, it definitely looks like I will shed some skin in the neck collarbone area but still plastering on the cream. I had to stop using aqueous as it gave me a rash so mainly used 99.9% aloe vera and E45. Hope it all goes ok for you x
Caren - enjoy your cruise just remember to use the stairs rather than the lifts and you might not put any weight on!
Marie - sorry to hear about your cellitis, hope it clears up soon and does not spoil your holiday. Still waiting for OH’s results.
Carabel - enjoy your holiday
Twinky - hope the gig goes ok.
Sweet dreams to all xx
Morning MM’s
Hope everyone is up bright and early and ready to face the day which is a bit overcast here on the east coast.
Care_N - You should enjoy Holland America when we cruised with them it was the Carribean (spl?) and we had a lovely time. Personally, I don’t think anything we’ve tried so far beats Celebrity Cruises, but I’m sure there are some other 5* or 6* that could give them a run for your money. My hubby keeps looking at the offers around but we are holding fire at the moment but you never know.
Amylou - Great to hear from you and sorry to hear that your little ones are feeling unwell, hope they get better soon. Good luck with your rads on Monday and will be thinking of you. You’d better get some Aqueous or E45 cream in because you are going to need to keep slapping in on. No doubt they will bring you up to speed about that when you go in for your treatment.
Carabel - I look in my wardrobe and shake my head somedays because it’s got so limiting, there’s so much in there that I can’t get into at the moment. Got to get my act together and I’m starting this morning. Sorry it will have to be Saturday because I’m going into town today with a friend and I promised to take her to the best fish and chip shop there - whoops! Oh and it’s our Quiz Night tormorrow and they are supplying burger/chips - see what I’m up against? It’s certainly going to be Saturday… Have a lovely time on your holiday and we hope to hear from you when you get back or before if you can get on the site.
Raechi - How are you doing with your recovery, hope all is well and look forward to hearing from you soon.
Marie (Jane) - Hope the antibiotics have cleared everything up for you, or if not yet then soon. Not sure how long you are away for (I think a week) and then you will be back for a phased return to work. Thinking of you.
Joan (Pachit) - You must be due back soon as well and well done hubby for doing the GNR for BCC!!! Will be nice to hear from you with your news and updates.
Jayjay, Angelherts and many others - where are you and how are you? Not heard from you all in ages but I’m thinking of you and take care.
Ceej - Running, jogging and pie and chips, now there’s a combination! I would have enjoyed the pie and chips as well! Ten years together and living in different cities, now there’s something to celebrate and I hope you enjoy whatever is planned. It must have been nice to enjoy the place to yourself even if it was just for one night. My boob got sore underneath and a little lumpy but it’s OK now. Bring the cream right up into the armpit because the radiation fans out even though it’s applied to certain areas during treatment, that’s what they told me anyway. I didn’t get zapped in the lympnode area but it fanned out there and into the armpit. I’m sure your OH is going to enjoy his car drive but try not to yawn too much…
Twinky - Glad to hear that work is going well and you have your first gig on Sat. Sorry but live too far away to come and support but look forward to seeing you in November. I’m getting used to my short hair but look in the mirror every morning to see if anythings changing, which is stupid really because hair doesn’t grow that fast. I’m told that short hair suits me which is OK, but I do know that it’s a hell of a lot easier to look after and manage - now that’s a plus!
Got to be off now to get ready for trip to town. Bye for now and everyone take care.

Morning ladies
Amylou - you’re amazing looking after two kids too! I cant even look after myself ha ha
Beryl - I definitely WASNT up bright and early this morning - I overslept as no grandson to wake me up! So I was late for work today!
Talking about cruises - my dad went on that one that sank - cant remember the name of it, but I had booked it for my mum and dad in 2005 as it was a dialysis boat - unfortunately my mum died in the May so he went with my sister, and it was great as he had his daily dialysis on it. Funny they didnt mention it had that facility on the news. He enjoyed it though and I’d love to do a cruise eventually. OH has asked me where I’d like to go at Xmas - back to Maldives or Mexico or somewhere else (can hardly stop myself jumping up and down with excitement) so he better not let me down cos I can be a very petulant child lol
I will now start with the cream further up my armpit - thanks for the tip!
Beryl - yes well done to the OH doing the run! I was out running with some people last night that had also just done it (grins smugly) and they said it was very hilly so quite a tough run!
Oh well - let’s see what today brings - more tea anyone?
have a lovely day all xx and hope all the ladies we havent heard from in a while are getting on ok x

Just a quickie…nipped out to the bank from work this morning and saw a car with reg no WIIGSY :))))))))))) I just fell about laughing…but I guess it doesn’t mean the same thing to most people as it does to us :)))))
Back Later
Love KQ
KQ - I haven’t heard of that meaning anything and my youngest brother’s got a mate called Wigsy! It must be an area thing or maybe not!
Ceej - Oh, Xmas break away - how exciting and something special to look forward to, lucky you but you so well deserve it! It wasn’t my OH who did the GNR it was Joans.
We have our MacMillan Coffee morning next week at the Graft Group, which I’m looking forward to. Been turfing out my cupboards for suitable things for the Tombolla. It’s amazing what you squirrel away and never use so this is a good time to donate. I’m sure we will do well on the day, they normally have a good turn out in the village and are very good at supporting this type of thing.
Went to town with my friend and had a good mooch around and lunched out on F&C - lovely. Off to play Bingo again, actually won £10 last week which was a bit of a surprise.
Hope everyone is OK and look forward to hearing from you soon.

Hi Everyone
Sorry not been on much as been so busy with work and because of the rubbish last 6 months we have all had I have not done any of OHs cafe accounts so desperately trying to catch up with hundreds of flipping invoices and receipts. Coming to the end of 2nd week working part time, been quite tired so lots of early nights apart from tonight as I fell asleep on settee when I got home for an hour. Going to London next week to see daughter and grandaughter as only working 3 days, looking forward to it.
Talking about skincare with rads, my skin broke down under my boob about a week after rads finished, suggest you keep using the cream for a few weeks afterwards.
So many posts cant do personals but fantastic to hear people moving on with talk of holidays, running and celebrating birthdays/anniversaries. Cant wait for my hols in nov, looking forward to our meet up also.
Hair growing but very slow!! Eyelashes and eyebrows growing also looking very dark, they used to be very fair before so dont know whats going on!! so jealous of those of you that are managing to colour your hair. I have 8 weeks before my hols so hoping hair is long enough not to have to wear wig!!
Thinking of you all lots and hope all is well with everyone.
Mary xxxx
Morning everyone,
KQ- that car reg made me giggle, maybe they’re really proud of their headwear ![]()
amylou- good luck with rads, I was just told to put aqueous cream on twice a day for the duration and up to two weeks after. Have to admit I was very lucky and had no reddening or other problems, I was expecting the worst being fair skinned but apparently it doesn’t work like that. The worst bit for me was tiredness but I’m sure most of that was because I was travelling all over the county every day dropping my son off with friends, I wish they could have delayed it til school started, would have been so much easier.
mary- you have been busy, no wonder you’re so tired. Hopefully you’ll get a chance to put your feet up a little at the weekeend
Beryl- good luck with the coffee morning, I’m doing a small one at home for friends (although its more like afternoon tea than coffee morning), an excuse to get people together and raise money for a good cause, hope it goes well for you
ceej- so impressed with the running, you definitely deserved the pie and chips ![]()
carabel- hope you have a great holiday, sounds fantastic
i’m up early despite my boy being at his dad’s this morning. Probably a good job though as I have lots to sort before heading off to take photographs for a community event today. I’ll still probably spend far too long lazing around drinking tea and then do everything in a panic just before I go! Then tomorrow I’m taking my boy up to London to the transport museum, he loves trains, buses etc and we have a ticket from last year before all this happened (it gives you entry for a year), quite nice to bookmark it like that.
time for a cuppa I think. Hope you all have gdays a day
xxx
Morning everyone. Very excited as we fly off on hols tonight.
Parsnip my grandson loves the transport museum but only wants to play on the modern day train!
Ceej glad your daughter is okay.
Hope All the mcmillan coffee mornings go well.
Xx
Hi Marchies,
I have not posted much but have popped in and asked the odd question which you have always helped me with, I am a LURKER … lol, but I just wanted to say how wonderful it is reading your posts and seeing how many of you ( me included in this ) that have started to get your lives back on track, holidays, days out, parties gigs etc etc, I started my journey in Feb with chemo in March also and am now the same as many of you, Back to work part time, planning holidays and it feels GREAT, I just wanted to post really to say that this has been an incredibly hard jpourney for 1 and all but I am soooo pleased that we are all seeing that light at the end of the tunnel, all the very very best to you all & may you all be healthy and happy for eternity
Love Janice xx
Afternoon ladies
Carabel - have a lovely holiday x rest and relax x
Boob rather pink and sore despite aqueous cream - they are sending me to see the skin nurse before end of treatment. I’ll start using my aloe vera instead tonight as I’m hot and pink! been feeling tired but mostly my eyes if that makes sense!!
Daughter and grandson spending the weekend with me and OH which should be nice, he’s growing into such a cutie - I picked up my keys this morning and he blew me a kiss and waved
I’d quite happily stay at home and look after him than go to work! and I’m not very good with kids, but he’s just so loveable and smiley - something I never remember my kids being ha ha!
Am really hungry today as well! have to restart the diet next week! I’ve managed to lose half a stone, but I’m still 4 pounds over what I was this time last year which I suppose isnt too bad, but ideally i’d like to lose a stone ready to put some on at Xmas which I know I will! Am hoping the weather will stay fairly kind as there’s no way I’m joining that running club to go out in the wind and rain - I’m not THAT dedicated - tho it’s something I would like to say I can do without being out of breath after 5 minutes!
Am bored today - nothing going on at work, and am working thru lunch as leaving at 3.30 for rads. I’ve already been out and got my ham salad batch and chocolate so I’m well prepared.
Have a lovely weekend all if I’m not back on before next week.
xxx
Thanks Janice - you too !!!
Hope you have a lovely holiday Carabel, I go away in 2 weeks, can’t wait!
Lottie (Janice) - Lovely words and thanks for coming on and thinking of everyone - you take care now.
Good news ladies - I’ve had my genetics results back and I don’t have the BRCA1 and 2 genes! That’s a load off my mind and I’m sure our girls will be relieved as well. Went to my Craft Group and a lovely lady there’s made me a name badge for our get together in Nov. She’s made it in pink which is quite fitting, so I’ll have to try to be a bit co-ordinated.
Carabel - Enjoy your holiday and I know there are a few coming back off of holiday as well.
Cold and miserable day here and I’ve had to put the heating on to warm us up - brrrrrrrhhhhhhhhhh.
Got to get ready to go out for our Quiz Night… Will be back on again tomorrow. Take care all.
Beryl XX
Beryl - brilliant news xx
Ceej - I’m like you - eyes feeling tired - will be off to bed soon.
Saw onc today and heart scan results good so start Herceptin again in 1st October. Also being given a drug called Ramapril which will help my heart deal with the Herceptin. Starting tamoxifen too - onc says likely side effects are hot flushes, sweats and weight gain. Ramapril (to be taken at night) might make me dizzy and faint. Told OH - he is really looking forward to sleeping with sweaty, fat, dizzy wife!!! The joys of treatment but at least I can now have everything I need.
Have a good weekend xx
Hello ladies!
Well, we are back from our holiday. Had a lovely time, busy and we have done a lot of sightseeing so it feels like we have been away for 2 weeks, not one! I have been keeping up with all the posts, but been unable to post myself. OH did the Great North Run last Sunday for BCC. His time was 2hr 42mins! Bless him, it was hard going, he has never done any running before (he is 63), so I am well proud of him. He raised £400 on his just giving page and we have a sponsor form at the pub, so that amount will go up.
My foot is still peeling, but is better than it was. Yesterday I lost half of one of my toenails. Think my fingernails will be ok though, luckily enough! My hair is getting quite thick, not much length yet, but it does need tidying up as I have some straggly bits round the back. No idea what to do re the colour (Beryl, think you posted about the same dilemma!). I have decided to leave it as it is for now.
Well done to everyone who has been going to work or finishing rads. Life is moving on ladies, I look back sometimes and can’t believe what we have gone through! We are all AMAZING!
Dani, hope you have continued to make progress. Keep up with those exercises!
Raechi, how are you doing? I saw your post during the week and do hope your recovery is going well. Let us know how things are going. Did you decide whether you are joining us in November?
WS, I hope you are keeping up with your exercises too? They really do make a difference and you will need to do them with rads too as that can make your skin feel tight again.
Wolsty, so glad you enjoyed the Robbie concert! As you know, I am soooooooooooooo jealous of you! I have seen Robbie a few times now and adore him! Silly woman that I am! He makes me swoon! Very pleased to hear your results came back and that you are able to carry on with the Herceptin. I have been on Tamoxifen for a few weeks now and I haven’t noticed any significant SE’s from them.
Waiting too, Jane, how is your rads going? Are you using the aqueous cream? Keep applying it, it will help.
Beryl. Great news for you, very pleased your results came back all clear, especially for your daughters.
Carmy, how are things with you? Hope your rads are going ok?
Thanks to those who have sent me their food choices through for our meet up.
I still need to hear from: Ceej, Gabbylamb, Danigirl, AmyLou and PoppyD (not staying over)
Peanut, KittyQueen, Waiting Too, Wintersocks, Jay Jay (accommodation booked).
Whatever has happened to Jay Jay?! I have a note that she has booked the premier inn but she hasn’t posted for quite a while now. I do hope she is ok.
Pargayan, Mollie43, EB Hippo, Angelhearts, PoppyD, not sure if you are joining us yet. Just let me know if / when you know and I will add you to the list. Mollie 43 and Angelhearts have not posted for a while, again I hope things are going well for you.
Goodness! Hope I haven’t missed anyone!!!
Dulcie, I hope things are going ok for you at the moment. I think of you often and keep you in my mind. xxx
Sleep tight marvellous marchies!

Morning MM’s
Joan (Patchit) - Nice to have you back and send my congratulations to hubby for his fantastic run and fund raising! Good that you got to spend the extra time up there and have a well earned holiday. We are marching towards November, so it won’t be long before we are all meeting up. Really looking forward to it but it will feel so strange putting faces to names and finally meeting up - great! Sorry to hear about you toe nail and I hope it isn’t too sore. My finger nails were doing really great and then a few of them decided they wanted to tear just along the top to the nail bed. Now I have nails of different lengths but at least they are still there.
Wolsty - Good news ref your heart scan and Herceptin and you are being looked after with regards to extra meds to help you through.
Looks like we are in for a good day weather wise here on the east coast but the next few days looks to be horrible with lots of rain. Got second lot of washing in so at least we can make the most of today. Off into town a little later to meet up with some friends for coffee and natter. Got to go to the chemist to pick up next prescription of Arrimadex - what joy! Went to Quiz night last night a didn’t do very well but never mind. One of the questions was ‘what fruit is in Eve’s Pudding’, so do you know what I said? Peaches - do I have a brain or what? Oh well I can use the chemo excuse! What a laugh.
Off to get a shower now and send everyone my thoughts and best wishes.

Hello everyone, we are back from our holiday - Corfu and we had 4 days of rain! Caught up with posts whilst we were away and was really shocked to read about Gary - so shocked I burst into tears whilst reading it in a restaurant - I think because we think ( well I think!) I am invincible.
kids go back to uni - yippee! Tidy house till Christmas. I have a major problem as I cannot walk (and they are not high) in the shoes i bought for the wedding. Trouble is all my shoes hurt as all I have worn is flip flops. So I will be walking round the house in wedding shoes!
I hope you are all well.

Evening ladies
Very quiet on our thread today, I guess that is the nature of it really, its good that we are all moving on from the past few months.
I have just ordered my name badge for November. Its only a few weeks away now, sure we will have a fab time!
I have an appointment with my Onc on Wednesday to get the results from my mammo last week. I thought I was ok with it all, but those little niggly thoughts have started to find their way into my head! All the ‘what if’s’ have started to run around my brain! Horrid! I shall be glad to get it out of the way now.
Its been a lovely day here in Herts, good washing drying day, which is lucky for me. When we got home from holiday yesterday, complete with case of washing, my eldest son had also left a washing basket full of dirties. Then we went to youngest son’s flat today. Big mistake! He is like a tramp! We ended up bringing home all his washing too. My eldest is great, he looks after himself well and the only thing I do for him is his washing really, so I dont mind. The youngest son though, well, he is a different story. Hard work, which I could do without! I suppose we all have our crosses to bear though.
Hope all our lovely ladies are doing well and having a nice weekend, sleep tight and dont let the flushes bite!
Joan xxx
Georgie, it wasant Gary, it was Scotties. Sorry you had rain in holiday! What a shame, hope you still had a nice time though!
Joan xxx
Joan, thinking of you for Wednesday, we’ll all be in that position soon, i’d so love to put it behind me and enjoy my life but not sure I will ever get over the BC paranoia
