Mastectomy 7 days on, poem/words, any other creative folk out there?

I am 59, live alone, artist, milliner, starting to write too. Dealing with cancer as a creative person means I am sharing, documenting, need my ‘journey’ (hate the word but its one we all end up hearing/using) to become my work. Can’t ignore it.

Any one else out there doing the same?

I wrote these words on instagram yesterday, describing my week, maybe they will help someone else recently post op?

void of anaesthesia

fog of painkillers

mist of grief

weariness of exhaustion

reality of the mirror

bite of shock wind

grey skies of the new normal

solace of fur purrs

relief of brave snowdrops

lack of drawing energy

drift of time lost

need of patient patience

gratitude for still feeling grateful

kind good thoughts to everyone going through diagnosis and treatment

About sums it up Jane ! It can definitely be therapeutic writing things down ,that’s   why I found the forum a really good help when I was first diagnosed  .x
