Hi jomich50,
Thank you for your post.
I am sorry you haven’t had any response yet. I am hoping my response will help our members to see your post and share their experience and tips.
In the meantime, please remember that for any clinical questions our breast care nurses are here and happy to talk things through.
Sending you our best wishes,
Zoe
@jomich50 - I’m sorry, I have only just seen your message. I think you should have had your surgery by now - so I hope all has gone well and that you are resting and being kind and gentle on yourself. I had a mastectomy and node clearance about 4 years ago, so please ask if I can help with any questions.
I’m sure you will have been given some arm exercises. Make sure you do these every day, but little and often is better so that they don’t turn into a chore. And don’t beat yourself up if in the early days you don’t feel like you are getting anywhere. You are.
Listen to your own body, when you are ready try going for a short walk - assuming this rain ever stops! I remember having to wait about 3 weeks before I was allowed to drive again. The early days were a bit challenging, I was frustrated not being able to get clothes over my head, but all of a sudden you will find yourself able to do normal things again. It’s a cliche but do try to take one day at a time. We are all individual and recover at different rates, so try not to read and compare with other stories. And any concerns, or unbearable pain, do contact your BC nurse or team for advice, they will always be happy to advise.
I really wish you a speedy recovery and please ask if you have any questions. Hugs, Evie xx
Hi there,
ive just joined and saw your message regarding full node clearance. How are you getting on? It’s all exhausting isn’t it? Did they complete the clearance after your surgery?
Hope you’re ok
