I’ve got my surgery booked for next week and it has dawned on me that my everyday problem of finding a 32G-H bra is now going to be that much harder.
Bigger bust bras seem to stop at an E or an F if you’re lucky - what I really need is a GG or a H cup. Anyone had any luck before I get my sewing machine out?
Hi Charlie, I’m a 34gg. I was going to order some online but left it too late before my op. I went to m&s and got some non wired bras in there, I bought a 36g which is slightly too small in the cup for my remaining breast, but they’ll do for now. They’ve been really good and hold my softy in place well. They’re quite old fashioned though! I waited around 1 week - 10 days post op before wearing a bra. I ended up buying some tight vests with adjustable straps from primarni and wore them as they were very comfy.
Also, get yourself a couple of bra extenders for the back strap as you’ll be swollen and won’t want anything too tight against your skin. Sissy xx
I am a one-sided 32hh. For immediately after mastectomy a sports bra and extender will work just fine, your bcn should advise. I managed to get back into a well fitting normal under wired bra after about a month - the prosthesis fitted just fine, no risk of slippage with a good bra. I also found it impossible to find a pocketed bra in that size, but in the end it wasn’t needed. I did have a nice soft piece of Jersey material for the first few weeks to sit between prosthesis and skin. Just had implant op and under wired out for a while, I have just ordered a few soft bras from bravissimo. My tip is to have the right bra before you try out the prosthesis (if you are going down that route). Good luck.
I’ve got my comfy bravissimo bras and I’m lucky that my normal bras are a good fit so hopefully I can wear the prosthesis without the pockets.
I’m hoping for a double mastectomy in the long run and I may consider a small reconstruction but I can’t have either until after chemo and radiotherapy, so probably about a year from now.
