Mastectomy Camisole or vest?

Hi,

Had MX last December. I’ve tried to persevere with my prosthesis in a mastectomy bra, but the bra keeps riding up and digging in my armpit!! I also had lymph nodes removed, so it is very uncomfortable. Does anyone know where - or if - I can get a camisole or vest with pockets in like the mastectomy bras???

Hi Poemsgalore,

I am sure you have already looked at the obvious websites, but just in case not, there are…

Amoena e.g.

amoena.co.uk/Products/Pocketed-Lingerie/French-Touch/Charlotte-camisole-top/Charlotte-camisole-top-beige-brown

Eloise e.g.

eloise.co.uk/s?q=camisole

Chantilly Rose seems to have some too

chantillyrose.co.uk/post-surgery/Loungewear-and-Nightwear/21

I have no idea what they are like, but it does appear that there some out there.  Hope you find something comfortable soon.

Just a slightly mad thought… would it be possible to get pockets put into one of those ‘hidden support’ vests that most chain stores sell?

Try Marks & Spencer. I bought one from there. But, I know what you mean, I have not yet found a bra for a prosthesis that is comfortable, especially when you have had lymph nodes removed and a course of radio therapy,

I have given up on the prothesis.  It is too heavy and makes me itch.  Added that I can’t find a comfie bra it has all got too much.  I wear a sports bra to flatten the remaining boob then wear loose shirts with the scarves I had as head gear to detract from the lopsided effect.  I havent heard anyone comment so far, and if they did I have some well practiced reponses waiting!  I want the other one off but have to wait until herceptin ends in Oct before they will even do the referal, so it will be baggy cardies this winter!

Please let me know if you find the perct bra though - there are some tops I now cant wear so if you crack it I would love to know.

Hi Poemsgalore, I had a mastectomy about two years ago, and after chemotherapy I got a stick on prosthesis from amoena, through my hospital. It is great to wear, not as heavy as the other prophesis Ihad before and I can wear any bra. I mostly wear sports bras. Good luck with your search.

Have a look at these very lightweight prosthesis. I’ve had a double mastectomy and they work great in an underwired bra.

I haven’t looked at tops, but hope this helps.

I am always on the look out for a comfy bra so have enjoyed reading these posts and picked up some ideas. So far I have found a sports bra to be the best. I find the prothesis heavy so tend to wear the softie I was given in the hospital for comfort. Good luck to you all in your quest for comfort.

Hi Poemsgalore, I am pretty sure that there is a pocketed vest in the amoena or Eloise or Nicola Jane catalogues. good luck
