Hi, I’m faced with having a unilateral mastectomy and would like to have an immediate reconstruction, I just can’t decide which would be the best way to go either an implant or a diep, I’m unsure if the implant would look so different or if I will have problems with a weaker stomach years after a diep, has anyone been through this and can offer any advice please

I had a delayed diep for both breasts. The recovery was intense. Three weeks of taking it easy period. However, after healing, I’ve got to say I’m pretty pleased. I’m nine months out and scars are finally beginning to fade, breasts are pretty round and perky, not perfect of course, but look good in clothes and bathing suits so I’m good, and stomach is flat. Honestly, I look better after surgery than before at least in clothes. I have absolutely no tummy issues or really any other long term physical side effects that interfere with my life. I also have good sensation. For me a diep was definitely the way to go.
