Mastectomy lumps- lipomas?
Mastectomy lumps- lipomas? I originally posted this or similar on the Ongoing treatment section bu tthought it better to put it on this section instead.
Has anyone had a lipoma on their mastectomy scar?
I had a mastectomy in Nov and just recently felt a couple of lumps along the scar. I do not know if they have been there since my mastectomy because I had not felt the scar until recently when I had to put loads of cream on during my radiotherapy sessions. I checked with my breast care nurse and she said she thought they were lipomas - fatty lumps which are benign but she is sending me for an ultra sound to make sure .
Now I am really panicking!
My lumps on the scar are small, soft but clearly defined. You can move them between your fingers. There are two.
I have to wait for the ultra sound appointment and I know I will spend the time worrying until I have had it done to confirm one way or other what these lumps are. I am imagining all sorts. I thought once I had had the mastectomy that was it. Every time I feel anything slightly raised I go into real panick mode.
Sorry to go on - I keep saying what if it is a cancerous lump how can they take more away if I have had a mastectomy already. Does a recurrance happen so soon after a mastectomy - only 4 months ago. I have just finished a course of radiotherapy - I thought that was supposed to zap anything untoward.
I just pray that these little lumps are what the breast nurse thought they were lipomas.
Thanks for listening.

Sue, know it’s frightening but hear quite a lot of stories about these and so far they’ve always had happy endings. Phone Breast Care Nurse to get lumps checked so you can sleep at night. best wishes, dilly
