Dear All
Wish me luck as I am going in for mastectomy and immediate recon DIEP flap tomorrow. In a way looking forward to the rest, although going to miss my two little girls like mad. Have spent the last couple of weeks feeling sad about my breast but am now back in the ‘think of it as a cure’ zone, so I hope that continues AND turns out to be true!!
Keep smiling xxx
good luck sweetie, you will be fine just thinking about the cure zone as you said. Its gone…!!!
Rest as much as you can the time flys by.
Thinking of you

Good luck with your surgery tomorrow - hope you manage to get some rest and I’m sure you will be back with your girls real soon.
Good luck with your surgery tomorrow, hope all goes well. Do try to take advantage of the time to rest though - with two little girls I’m sure it won’t be so restful once you’re home again. It is hard to deal with but you’re right - keep thinking of the cure - don’t know if it helps but I also kept thinking that it was the cancer I was getting rid of, not part of me!
(I just had surgery 4 days ago, albeit different - lumpectomy, node clearance and reduction on other side - and am surprised how well I am physically so quickly. Worst bit is not being able to pick up my little boy who’s almost 2, but he’s getting good at giving big kisses without throwing himself at me so it’s not all bad!!)
Take care of yourself, and let us know how you are getting on,
Ax
You are doing just the right thing! Keep positive and you’ll be just fine. Don’t be afraid to cry too - we need to sometimes. Your family will help you through this and I hope the operation goes well for you. Accept all the help you are offered and concentrate on getting well. Hugs, Looby
Hi Lizzab
Good luck tomorrow, I’ll be thinking about you. I had a mastectomy on the 24th June, didn’t really know what to expect but was pleasantly surprised by how I felt afterwards, definitely well enough to enjoy being cared for and pampered in hosp. Only got 48 hours of it before being sent home. Unfortunately I was obviously nurturing a nasty bug before I went in and went down with an awful cold and chest infection the following day so was really poorly for a week; no problem at all with the surgery side of things though, so hopefully you’ll be the same (not the bug of course, but the surgery!)
Was also given a complete all clear last Thursday, no further treatment needed apart from hormone tablets, so will keep my fingers crossed for you as they obviously work quite well!
Love and hugs
Penny
Hi LizzaB, just wanted to add my good luck wishes for tomorrow. I , like GandT had a mastectomy on 25th June and I swear my remaining positive has had a detrimental effect on my recovery. I also had 4 lymph nodes out and await my results next week but face that bridge when it comes.
Take advantage of the “rest” in hospital and listen to your body - rest when you need to rest. My 7 year old has got used to me saying I just need to lay down etc.
Good Luck for tomorrow - love sharon xx
