Mastoplexy on normal boob

Hi everyone I had a reconstruction last year which is great and in a few weeks time I will be having a Mastoplexy on the normal boob.
Anyone else had this done? Any advice appreciated.

Thinking of having this op also so would love to hear what others have to say.

Yes I had immediate mastopexy at the same time as my tram flap recon three years ago. The result is great! - much better than before. I always had large breasts and now they are a much more “normal” size. The operation did not take long to recover from. I had no pain and did not need any post op pain relief. I have experienced a slight but not complete reduction in sensation which doesn’t bother me at all and the nipple remains permanently erect.

Hi All

My surgeon keeps telling me that he wants to do this on my normal breast. As I understand it, it is a lift to help match my Becker implant. I was worried to start with but now think I will just trust the man. He has been great so far, and an expert on breasts! Keep in touch so we know how we get on. My implant is “let down” on 12 May so after that I make a decision about the unaffected breast. Still thinking. I am 56 and not that vain!!! But tempted.

I’ve also been offered this and am uneasy about messing about with my normal breast. Can anyone tell me more about the loss of sensation? Is it true as Kmans says that the nipple remains permanently erect?

Hi Lisa and all

I just looked again at the letter my surgeon sent to my GP and it refers to it as “mammopexy”. This may of course be a typo! He demonstrated taking a sort of tuck underneath the right breast to raise it a bit. He didn’t say anything about a permanently erect nipple though. I’ll ask him before I agree to anything. Lisa - this is at Newham University Hospital in East London. Where are you?

Hi all
Had this done in January, originally diagnosed in 2001, very lopsided and hated it. My onc. asked if I would like my breast reduced and I said yes. Two weeks later saw consultant 2 weeks after that had op. I just wish it had happened sooner, there is very little (if any) pain, I managed on the odd paracetamol, I have a very physical job so had to have 5 weeks off. The result is fantastic. don’t worry just get it done.

Hi all,

I had right masectomy and re-con and Mastopexy to left boob about 6 weeks ago. They both look bloody marvellous - surgeon is a god!!! And no, my nipple isn’t perm erect - it is totally normal - but a little sensitive. I went from a 32D to a 32C and have a saline implant under the Recon, just waiting to be topped up when the mastopaxy has settled down and after teh RADS are finished (the RADS shrink the recon, so the boob needs to be over-inflated before RADS start). I wanted boobs like Posh Spice but my surgeon expalined that that particular look probably wasn’t an option for me!!! It is healing much quicker than the Recon and I’m having no pain at all. I wouldn’t hesitate to have it done all over again - it was a really good call for me.

Hi everyone I am now the proud owner of one uplifted boob to match my reconstructed one! The mastopexy went well and am now out of hospital. A bit sore but it is all worth it.

Thank you to everyone on this forum who helped me along the way.

Next step nipple reconstruction!! I cannot wait!

Hi I have also had this op done about 10 days ago and although still a bit swollen and sore can see ahuge difference already. My nipple seems to be the same as it was prior. I have got a small infection the warm weather hasn’t helped that I’m sure, but all in all seems good.

I had this on my normal breast at the same time as an adjustment and a new nipple on my reconstructed breast. - The nipple was made by taking some of my other nipple!. It was all done with local anaesthetic and took 2 hours. I had hardly any discomfort and only needed a week off work. This was mainly in case i bumped the new nipple. I felt well enough to go back to work the next day.
