Mattress choice with bone mets

Hi all

I have bone mets in my spine, hip and ribs.

I previously had a soft mattress which was of traditional construction after replacing my previous hard memory foam mattress post chemo. It was, as the Welsh say, cowing lush. However, after a few years I started to get hip pain which subsequently transpired to be bone mets. I could feel the little button bits and used a topper for a few years but eventually bit the bullet and bought a new one a couple of months ago - with 100 day guarantee.

I spent hours at the shop, tried their gizmo thing and then tried several mattresses. I eventually opted for a tempur mattress. Almost all the aches and pains disappeared apart from the pesky hip. I thought I would have to put up with that but when I went on a cruise recently the mattress was really comfortable and a hybrid thing - medium firm same as my new one.

Now I’m second guessing my choice and suitability. Is the mattress too firm or is it the type of mattress that makes the difference. The holiday one had a massive topper on but I’m guessing it’s cheaper to replace those than the whole mattress and after spending an obscene amount of money on it I don’t want a mattress topper on a new mattress.

I’m wondering how others have dealt with this issue. I will be going back in to see them about it but for me it’s back to the drawing board.

Any thoughts suggestions greatfully received.

Mine is a tempur memory foam mattress and I swear by it. Was brilliant when I was pregnant with my 11lb 4oz daughter with SPD, with my back that was fractured in a car accident and now my bone mets. I never struggle to sleep on it or feel uncomfortable. I love it. I have a pretty flat pillow and I think that makes a difference too. It took my husband awhile to adjust to it, but he has got used to it and is now equally keen. Someone has actually just recommended a Shakti mat so I’ve bought one to see how I get on with it.
