May 2017 chemo starters

How was work wolfee? Size may not be important as it might be working but still a lump.stay positive chomp chomp chomp.
Mai I am now having rice pudding ( not home made I am afraid) all your fault ?

New desert treat for me today - tinned peach slices in natural juice with vanilla ice cream and topped off with cold chocolate custard - indulgent but delicious!

Usually I favour savoury foods but whilst in this week of side effects, it’s sweet stuff that rules my head and stomach!!

MJK I just dragged hubby out for a power walk . Thanks for the motivation c

Good news Mai.
Totally understand the sweet thing Jay. Been eating holiday fudge too. Had such good intentions of changing my diet but chemo says no!
I downloaded the active 10 app and have really improved my walking ? on my good days. Decided hubby and I will go out every day come rain or shine. He goes back to work on Monday so will be nice to unwind in the evennngs.

Great news Mai. Of course ???ice cream would help ?. Well done on the walk Treehouse, my Samsung has a health app which counts steps, time and distance walked. It’s great although can feel like a slave driver on rough days ???
It was only drizzle here so not too bad for walking. Mum in law has just brought me an apple turnover, it would be rude to refuse! ?

WolfEE - I worked from home today and find that bad enough, I couldn’t imagine going into the office at the moment, think you did really well.  I’m running out of new work now and the only way to generate more would be to commute into London and that’s not going to happen any time soon so think I will have to be signed off sick until after surgery

I dont think the lump shrinking is as important as we think as long as when they operate there aren’t any active cancer cells and even if there are there’s always rads. It seems as if chemo first is more popular now but I think they underestimate the psychological impact of still having the lump for another six months while having treatment especially if it gets delayed.

You’ve all been busy today - well done Katie on your last chemo Is it rads for you next?

treehouse - can’t believe your platelets are low too. I remembered you got some papaya last time they were low so I got some today and some pomegranates. Just had salmon, noodles and crispy kale for dinner, apparently kale’s good for platelet production.

Mai - glad to hear your temperature’s behaving. You’ve got me craving rice pudding now

Thanks for the nudge Rosie just eating a Papya and mango. I won’t lie I have completely gone off the taste of them now.
I got a week to boost them.
Patience

Wide awake since 4am. Head all over the place. Thank you steroids.
Have a good all. X

Hope you managed to get back to sleep treehouse. Not too bad today , legs just feel very heavy! Sorry to those who have had treatment delayed. Have you tried ringing them rosie? It doesn’t sound right that it would jump quite a lot in a week? Worth a try?? Yes I’m ok rads next eeeeek ! Got my planning appointment Tuesday and start my moving forward course next Friday. All bit daunting again. Felt safe in my chemo bubble in a weird way! Heather now you have finished are you on the moving forward course? Any one else on rads next? Xx

No sleep so getting up for breakfast. Let us know how the moving forward course goes. Also details of rads.
It is daunting going on to the next phase. I was just starting to get my head around surgery but now the breaks are on I feel like I’m going backwards.

I have registered interest in a Moving forward course 1st Nov but haven’t heard anything…

Treehouse - at least on the steriods you have a greater appetite - make the most of it!

Mai - hope your temperature has stayed down overnight and again this morning.

I’m due surgery next - mx and complete node clearance - date 19 Sept! - so next month - until tomorrow when it suddenly becomes scarily closer!!  Rads will be dependent on results of surgery.

Hooray the last of the injections last night, must say, this time around I’ve felt everyone of them being done and I’ve had discomfort in my hips, spine and neck, more than I’ve suffered for the whole 4 months!

Well, I’m pleased to say the sun has made a welcome return here this morning but I fear it’s only until this afternoon when more rain has been forecast!  So just going to get up to put some washing on the line.  Off to see Chas and Dave tonight with Husband and Son - should be a bit of fun!

Wow Jay not long to go till surgery. How long between last chemo and operation?

How you doing today Mai?
Sun is out ?

Ok that makes me feel less concerned. Final treatment now moved to 8th September. Surgery booked for 12 October. That is almost 5 weeks. With my dodgy bloods I will need the extra week to recover.

Love it Annie
Thank you :heart::heart::heart::heart::heart::heart::heart:

Eeee ?My caravan pyjamas just arrived!!!
???

Ooh treehouse the arrival of the caravan pyjamas is so exciting, isn’t it??

Well done Anniej so pleased for you. Thanks for some light in the tunnel, I think the battery in my torch needs replacing lol

I am actually feeling pleased now that I’m not going to be poisoned this afternoon as my taste has returned and sore tongue has nearly recovered so I’m looking forward to a whole week of feeling more normal for the first time since May.

katie - I checked and platelets can suddenly go down on chemo. Think it’s the carboplatin that does it as I have quite a large dose of that.

Glad you seem to have weathered the temperature storm Mai and got to eat your rice pudding

Jay - thanks for the weather forecast! I went for a long walk this morning and got back before the rain. Sun back out now so as I’ve been paid today I’m off to town for some retail therapy.

Have a good afternoon all.

So AnnieJ and Treehouse will both be ringing the bell on the 8th (Trisha too if my dodgy memory is right ).
Good to hear you’re staying cool Mai ?
Enjoy the caravan pjs Treehouse ?? ?. I just went to Sainsburys to get some but they didn’t have my size ?.
I’m now on Bexhill beach after fish and chips for lunch ??

Hi MJK u have a good memory! I’ve chemo brain! Yes the 8th Sept my last one. Just had a 2 hour nap and now on sofa with an icecream/lolly. Heaven x

Wolfee can I ask if you wore a wig or scarf to work? I just found my wig catalogue and I am contemplating buying a second longer one but don’t know if it is worth it.
Any thoughts ladies? I am at 2 mm of fuzzy regrowth. I wear a scarf outside 90% of the time but don’t think I would want to for work. I honestly don’t think I will be back before Christmas.
