All the best today Dede and Heather. Will be thinking of you both x
Hi Dede, I hope today goes well. The PICC line is fitted at the hospital to make sure everything is sterile. It goes from the upper arm into the big vein. The community nurses come weekly to flush it with saline and change the dressing. It’s covered with tubigrip. I haven’t had any issues with it. They gave me one because of the T - docetaxol.
Good luck today ladies x
Just tried to book the look good feel better workshop at my local haven for July. They have put me on reserve list as full but booked me for Oct. I hope to have finished treatment by then. How long does hair take to grow back? Has anyone else been to one of these?
I’ve booked onto one for her 19th June. Think one of us has been on it. Was it Annie?
My friend finished her chemo yesterday and had been on weekly Pacitaxol for 9 weeks. Her hair was already coming back during last few weeks so hope for us all.
Thanks Katie. Hope you are well ? x
Treehouse - I’ve booked onto one 20th June. They did say they’re very popular. Get the impression it’s good for skincare/make up tips during and after chemo to give you a boost. Plus loads of excellent freebies Mac/Clinique so always worth it.
They do another similar make up session at my centre (without the freebies) so might be worth seeing if anything else is offered.
Im getting a free wig styling/ cutting session on Monday which might help me make up my mind about what to do with my hair
My Haven only seem to run them every 3 months. Not easy to find on line. I had to go in to pick up a leaflet. Also plan to join yoga or Pilates for breast cancer as my usual class was a bit hard core for me now. Feel like I am getting the hang of this treatment malarkey ?
Great news misyangel. Good luck tomorrow. X
FEC 2 done, chemo ward running 2.5 hrs late so took 7 hrs door to door, off to bed as cream crackered, night all.
Get a good rest Heather. X
Big hug Dede. Be kind to yourself over the next couple of weeks. Accept help. We are all here for you. X
Hope today goes smooth misyangel, 2 down ? Xx
Hi,
I’m meant to be starting chemo tomorrow but can’t find a June thread. I’m having 6 cycles of fec-t. I’ve got an appointment today but not sure what it’s for. My hospital has been a bit rubbish at sending out appointment letters so I had to phone them to find out what’s going on. When I spoke to the oncologist we planned chemo starting tomorrow and that was 2 weeks ago now so I’m hoping it’s still on as the last 2 weeks have been awful waiting for it to start .
Xxx
Hi skells, welcome you’ll be fine with us some of us are still early days with only 1st treatment very recently. I woukd imagine your appointment today will be a blood test so that they can check your upto receiving the treatment tomorrow.
Also you will probably have a chat with a nurse who will go through the process give you tips on how to handle side affects and what you should avoid eating etc they will also give you a little card and probably a prescription that you keep with you during treatment that you woukd take with you if are unwell so the hospital do not have to wait for a doctor to sign off prescription for antibiotics if required.
Today’s appointment will be good for you it will ease your mind a little and help you understand a little about tomorrow.
You’ll be fine xxxxxx
Being later starters on the May thread allows us to see and get tips from our lovely group members slightly ahead of us so feels less scary. Xx
Hi Skells I think wolfee covered everything. Just take someone with you as its a lot to take in. I am now on round 2 day 4. I feel much better than last time. But hair is very patchy now. The in-laws are coming to visit so wearing a cap and scarf for the first time. I think husband and I will get the clippers out tomorrow when everyone has gone m
Thanks Anniej. I got a wedding coming up so need all the tips I can get ?
Morning all, hope you are all well. I didn’t sleep well last night, nothing to do with chemo just too hot, then too cold, then the blind kept hitting the window in the breeze.Hoping for a snooze this afternoon in the garden.
You can just start a June chemo starter thread if you wish but you are more than welcome to stay on ours as we will be ahead of you so you can pick up tips in advance. I started the May one but I had also followed the March and April ones for info.
