May 2024 chemo starters

@glitteryrainbow thank you :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:,i can only hope for your response its amazing and im so happy for you.The more i read ,apparently it only works for 40 percent of people so as you said not everyone has it anyway.I be honest it has been nice not to be in pain this cycle. Ive had some dizziness, but as you said previously this cycle definitely better.Glad you have had time to think about the operation. That sounds a lovely idea for your birthday too:smiling_face_with_three_hearts:xx

Please try not to stress, the way i see it is, I’d rather have less side effects than be throwing stuff at my body that might work (in regards to the 40%) if that makes sense. EC is definitely the harsher drug but just think, its not that many cycles and youll be done. Hopefully without the immunotherapy, you will recover quicker. Has was your PICC line btw? Did it get sorted?

@glitteryrainbow yes definitely nice not being in the pain i have been in:smiling_face_with_three_hearts: only 2 cycles left cant believe it.I was supposed to see my oncologist on Fri but been cancelled, now having a phone appt with my BCN on the 23rd.I dont know when they are going to do ultrasound or Mri to check shrinkage but hopefully should know more then. Also get an appt with the surgeon  I phoned the triage, didnt seem that bothered by the PICC ,I havent heard back from the team either.Im having it dressed Thursday, so if it moves again I think that will be it xx

2 more! You are so close! I went and got some chocolate and a card for the staff on the ward today and got so emotional! My girlfriend was stood in tesco saying “please do not cry” :joy:. Ive cried before every treatment from about week 8 of paclitaxel :joy:, just tired of it and definitely hit the ‘Chemo wall’. We are stronger than we know.
Picc lines are amazing, but bring with them so many issues. Mine has moved 1cm and sent the nurses into a panic last week, saying i might need an xray.

@glitteryrainbow aw love you, that is really kind of you:heart: Ha ha im the same my favourite line to my partner is “I said I wasnt going to cry today”,obviously said through loads of tears:rofl::rofl:.Yeah they told me more than 2cm thats it.I will be wearing it as a necklace and they still wont be brothered :rofl:.Honestly you deserve a nice little chill after Chemo,it is a battle that is for sure xx

@glitteryrainbow these decisions we have to make are so tough, all you can do is take advice and go with what feels right. Like you I had to make a decision (double or singke mastectomy, I went single) and then just stick to it and only time will tell if it was the right one.
@budsbails2301 nearly there, thats brilliant!
Like both of you I cried every chemo and also as I left the last one.
I’ve my first surgery tomorrow where they’re taking some lymph nodes, definitely more nervous about the results than the surgery. Not sure if that’s weird or not!

@rosa1, I’m not sure if you’re still following this thread but I think you were going to be induced last week. I hope everything went as planned and you and the baby are doing well xxx

@tori123 sending love and hugs for tomorrow  Just make sure you rest up and take it easy xx

Thanks both, I’m out and feeling less dopey now. I was fisrt in which was great. Good news and bad news, the node they marked knowing it was cancerous was the first sentinel node but the second also looked like it had been attacked by chemo so more than one node involved. As they only took 3 I’m preparing myself for a full clearance in a few weeks. Pants.

@tori123 So glad the surgery went well and you are okay❀ sorry to hear about needing more surgery for your lymphnodes.Sending a big hug😘xx

@glitteryrainbow as you say any decision you make will be the right one for you based on where you are, and once the decision is made it’s one less thing to worry about on this rollercoaster
@budsbails2301 my picc moved 9cm in total so was replaced but they were still flushing it then and even put meds through when it was at 7cm telling me as long as stuff could go in that was the important part. But when it got to 9cm and I was practically wrapping it round my arm and about to commence weekly they replaced it thank goodness, but was gutted when they pulled it 1cm changing my dressing last week, as need this one to last another 10 weeks!! Will be reminding them to be gentle from now on!
@tori123 glad the surgery went well and I hope the recovery does too, although waiting to hear about the lymph nodes does add uncertainty, when you just want to focus on recovery
For me I’ve now had 2 x paclitaxel and didn’t have an allergic reaction so that was a great relief  and last week I felt what only can be described as almost ‘normal’ it was a great feeling, but like so many of you before me I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop, chemo is never without something
but whilst the good days last I will enjoy them. I suspect like you @glitteryrainbow i will hit a wall with this at some point as 10 more feels so looong.
Love and strength to one and all

Hi @tori123. Yes I am still following but haven’t checked it for a week. I have birth to a beautiful daughter on Friday. The induction went ok a bit traumatic at the end but luckily my baby was ok. She was only 5ib2. Think the chemo affected my appetite and then having pneuomonia didn’t help. I am seeing my oncologist next week and will see what he says about the next steps and when chemo will resume. Hope you’re doing ok.

Congratulations, so glad she’s OK, 5lb2 is still a good weight for an early baby I think. Enjoy those snuggles and you’ll be through chemo in no time with so much going on. Xxx

Congratulations @rosa1 hope you and baby are both doing well.

Wishing you many congratulations @rosa1 on the birth of your daughter, a wonderful new part of your family

@kiltie really gd news no reaction to paxaital  thats the best way to look at it,enjoy the days when you feel well ,do things you enjoy. I only have 2 EC left so I dont think they would put another picc in for that.My veins are shocking ,always have been. @rosa1 Congratulations on the birth of your beautiful bundle of Joy. She would be so proud of her Mamma and all she has gone through to bring her in to this world xx

Congratulations @rosa1 :baby: on the birth of your baby :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

@budsbails2301 thank you and yes am just trying not to get too hung up on neuropathy and focus on the fact I am receiving chemo and feeling okay, which is a first for me; EC hit me hard previously, so I can remember how significant it felt to know you’re half way through and only have 2 left! I hope the picc lasts for you as EC does no favours to the veins!! Will that be you finished chemo completely then?
