My mum is also having the same thing, she got Phesgo due HER2 positive. My mum is having PICC fitted on 6th May. Feeling anxious already
@stafford22 knows more about this than me and can hopefully advise?
Hi there, a picc line is sooo good. The fitting of it is v straight forward and takes around 20-30 mins. The only thing is showering is a pain with getting the waterproof cover on and also I have to go to hospital weekly to get it flushed. This isn’t a problem but as I’ve suffered quite badly on EC I’ve not felt great going to hospital the week after treatment. But I can go up to 10 days after treatment for the flush, so I go on the 10th day!
Hi all,
First time on this forum. Due to start Chemo in 2 days- accelerated AC then Docetaxel. Have been trying to find out more about neuropathy. I understand it’s more common with Docetaxel than AC but wanted to know if anyone has experienced it with AC. Should I get compression gloves/stockings now or wait and see how I get on?
@jb76 Hi I wore compression socks right from the start. 24/7 for the first 5 days and then overnight all the time. I’m now.on Kadcyla and wear compression gloves overnight too xx
Thank you. What brand of socks and gloves did you find helpful? Are fingertipless gloves worth using?
Ok thank you for your reply. My mums first chemo is this coming Thursday but PICC is on 6th May. Can they do chemo if PICC is not fitted yet x
Hi I have compression socks when we flew out. Can my mum use them or does it have to be these once. Do you wear them during chemo and maybe for example when you go to bed etc x
Welcome to this forum. Same my mum is starting her first chemo on 1st of May. Wishing you all the best with your first chemo
Yes they can do chemo through a canula if the picc line isn’t fitted in time. I bought the suzzipads from Amazon for neuropathy.
Do you wear these with Ice packs?
Ok thanks for the info
Ask as many questions as you want, that’s what I do. Don’t sit there any worry, ask us all and we will help or point you in the right direction. It’s all a learning curve for us all x
I didn’t ice my hands or feet. I’m afraid the cold cap was enough!!! I read some research- can’t remember where- that compression was as effective as ice.
This is great to know, so do you wear them on treatment day and then for a few days?
@stafford22 that’s right! And I’m 13 months on with Kadcyla and still wearing them overnight all the time xx
Great tip!
Hi All. I’m in the May gang. Having my Picc line today and then start chemo on the 1st. As odd as it sounds i will be glad to get started, feel like I’ve been waiting for a while and I need the routine. Xx
Glad you starting soon my mum also same day however her PICC will be done the week after, so I guess they going to do the first treatment without the PICC
Wishing you all the best, let us know how it went x
