Weirdly my hair has started to come through on my head even though I’m still on pac. It’s soft and downy and grey, where I used to be brunette. I have heard that sometimes you get growth and it comes out again … who knows

Oh no @mssteel those drops in bloods are huge. So glad you are in hospital being cared for properly.
Odd that you felt nothing. Unless the chills were partly due to it all

Enjoy the adjustable bed and private room. You hit lucky on those. There has to be some perks in amongst all this treatment and side effects.

My jaw nearly fell off when they gave me the numbers. I only had my last bloods done on the 11th and was actually advised by oncology not to do my third filgrastim injection that week due to my levels being so high. I’ve also done three filgrastim on Tues, Weds and Thurs this week so I can’t believe how low they are. I shudder to think what they might have been before doing the jabs.
That must have been a shock @mssteel when they were so high initially. Especially when you are also having the injections. I thought my highest neutrophils of 6 was good ! ! Who would have thought they could drop so quickly when so high!!!
It seems chills and sweats can be a symptom of sudden drops in levels. But its so tricky when the same symptoms can be due to multiple reasons. Makes it really difficult to navigate.
So glad you are being looked after now though, and hope they can increase your levels PDQ .

Hope you’ ll soon be on the mend, @mssteel . Any idea what might have caused such a sudden nosedive in the neutrophils etc? That’ s a big discrepancy from one set of figures to the next! How are your platelets?
At least you’ ve snaffled your own room, which has got to be a bonus these days! I won’ t say ‘ Enjoy it’ - but make the very best of it you can. Any idea how long you might be there? Wishing you a speedy return to acceptable blood counts!

@mssteel OMG, I hope you are feeling well looked after this morning. How scary to find your levels have dropped so fast. I do hope you managed to get some sleep, the nurses have to keep checking on you and changing fluids etc, so it can be quiet tiring. From my own experience, the only positive to having chemo is that we do get preferential treatment and our own room (we do down in my hospital). We also have a ensuite bathroom to use 
. So much easier when we have to keep nipping to the toilet.
The problem with chemo side effects is that they force menopausal symptoms on you, like being hot and then cold, or both at the same time. It is hard to know what is what, especially if you don’t feel poorly as such. Good job you checked your temperature. Big hugs for you

Strange question, has any of you ladies experienced a strange sensation on your face? It feels like the little hairs on my face are full of static every time I touch it with my hands, fabric, or a tissue. The wind/breeze makes it feel like I’m getting a face full of grit. So weird. 
Hmmm, that’ s an odd one, @baldiesrus , not come across that before. Mind you, I’ ve got no hairs left on my face to ruffle! Am now sitting here typing this with one hand whilst stroking my face with the other, just to check! Nope, zilch weird sensations. Though I do get that strange ‘wind blowing through total lack of hair’ feeling if I walk around even indoors without my chemo bonnet on! Not the same thing as yours, though. Yet another of the many mysterious side effects chemo chucks at us.
Maybe another of our May girls can come up with an answer?

Thanks for checking in! I’ve seen a very lovely doctor here today who has confirmed that my last chemo essentially murdered my immune system. He thinks those numbers will keep dipping initially so they’re keeping me in tonight and will be administering more IV antibiotics and doing more bloods to keep an eye on things.
Good news is my temp has come back down to it’s normal range and I have bakewell tart and custard for lunch dessert!

“A “static” or tingling, prickling, and buzzing sensation on the face during chemotherapy is a form of mild neuropathy or sensory nerve irritation. Chemo drugs can affect small nerve endings in the skin, leading to strange feelings like static electricity, light tickling, or pins and needles”
Another suggestion was changes in hair follicles, skin sensitivities.
Either way, as always, it mentions always telling Oncology Team about any new sensations/side effects, especially if possibly related to neuropathy.
This last infusion Ive had: weird pin prick feelings all over my body; numb and painful fingers on and off; numb and painful feet on and off, with prickling sensations. So I rang 24/7 last night. They said I may need the dose reducing a second time if it continues.
You are on your home straight @baldiesrus so check with Oncology 24/7 this weekend. Pac definitely has a cumulative effect. Especially around pain and neuropathy. So I’d get it checked out before Monday. At least then it will be on your records even if they are not worried about it.

I don’t have any hairs on my face currently but I do have the little, peach fuzzy hairs on my head and get a similar sensation to what @bea4 described in the breeze. Probably more like a tingling feeling. Some people do get a soreness/hypersensitivity when losing/regrowing hair so maybe this could be the culprit?

Update: my neutrophils are down today from 1 to 0.8.
I took my filgrastim with me to the hospital and they have it in their fridge but I didn’t do yesterday’s as the nurse responsible for me said she needed a doctor to confirm whether I should do the jab but no one had come back to her yet as they were busy with, and I quote, “poorly people”.
I explained the situation to her, what the jabs are for and that they were prescribed to me by my oncologist and she just said if she gets the go ahead by a doctor she’d give them to me but this never happened. I mentioned this to the doc this morning and he said I absolutely should have been doing the jab yesterday. 
Omg @mssteel that is an awful attitude from the hospital staff. . So cancer patients are not poorly!!!? What was she thinking of !!!
Those are huge drops in levels. And ones that make you susceptible to infections. Even us as patients know you need the injections pdq.
So sorry you are having to fight your case when you need staff to be professional and knowledgeable.
I hope the Doctor addressed this with her. I would certainly make sure he/she knows what was said to you.
Fingers crossed a change of staff over the weekend may give you better care, and results. Sadly there are bad apples in every profession. But there are also some fabulous staff who work really hard. We just need to make sure we hunt the good ones out.

Sorry to hear your Neutrophils have dropped a bit more. Really not helpful that the nurse said we she did to you. You are poorly, just cos you look well is neither here nor there. You still deserve the best care they can offer. I do wonder if the nurse remembered about the injection, or chased it. They can be a bit all over the place due to staffing levels. On the plus side, your temperature has come down…big whoop.
I hope you enjoyed your pudding at lunch. That’s certainly the best part of the food. Try and choose the high protein meals….if you can, and you like them. It’s hard not being at home and grabbing what you feel you need to eat and when. Big hugs for you

Thanks @bea4 , @poppy261 and @mssteel regarding face fuzz. I will mention it to the Chemo nurse on Monday, I know they won’t look to see if I rang up at all, they just ask me if I’ve had any issues.
I must admit I thought most of my face hair had fallen out, especially the tash area. I am wondering if the hair follicles are just being super sensitive and worst of all, are growing the hairs back. 
. I can’t actually see the hairs so they must be tiny if that’s the case. I will bear in mind it could be neuropathy. It really does feel funny when the breeze catches them. The tiny hairs on my head just make me feel cold when the breeze gets them It’s ok, I know I am not normal.

@poppy261 You mentioned that you were getting prickling sensations, were you on your injections at the time? One dose of chemo, can’t remember which drug now, I did experience some weird prickling sensations, a bit like pins and needles but not quite, it started on my feet and then slowly worked it’s way up to my knees. I put it down to the Filgrastim injections, as I think that was listed as a side effect. It only happened on the one cylcle.
How are you feeling today? Has the reduced dose lessened your pain and fatigue in anyway?

I understood what she was saying completely as in the moment, someone having a heart attack for example would absolutely require medical attention sooner than me, but it seems like it was just never followed up on. And yeah, the wording could’ve been a bit better!
I’ve checked in with a nurse and she says the filgrastim is definitely on the schedule for me later today.
Predictably I ended up in tears because she was so nice.

Hmmmmm I had the anti clotting injection when I was in once…..be warned it smarts! You may have already had this and know what I mean.
