Hi All Firstly can I say the pictures have been amazing …I was telling my son how the ladies on mu forum are rocking their new looks and look so chic. I am day 17 of first cycle and up to yesterday had lost nothing . I am now multing like my old cat . I have long shoulder length hair so it has a while to go but I think its the beginning of the end ( no cold cap due to migraine sufferer) . I have an appointment to see the wig lady at my hospital tmw as she has ordered some wigs for me . I get £100 towards one. I think though knowing how hot I get I may lean towards the scarf .
I have felt very tired and lethargic this week so far and the diarrhoea is back . I had hoped that I would be energised before the next cycle on Tuesday but not at moment. I think its a bit of dread of knowing whats coming… i feel with my heceptin/perzamab going in on the same day as doctaxel and carboplatin that I haven’t felt the full force of all in one day rather than two days like before .
I have a Lgfb course booked in for june 25th which I am looking forward to as I think I will be ready for it and its nice to have something to look forward to . Booked only last week .
Anyway ladies keep going and your words and tips are definitely helping me so thanks ?? to all.
I have had alot of hair cut out at the top as it matted after last chemo using cold cap so wondered if i need to use anything on my head where theres not much hair when i use the cold cap next time?
Also i am seeing the oncologist on tuesday.i was doing 4 cycles then op then maybe 4 more cycles. Now i need to do all chemo first so wondered if i should come off the rosco trial as i was told you normally do 6 cycles on fec-t.my ultrasound showed its fragmenting after 2 fec cycles but i dont know if fec or tc is the best type of chemo as they do a test on the trial to see which is best but allocate you randomnly to fec or tc first. I am having therepeutic mammoplasty op so want the best result possible from the chemo to get clear margins when they do op. Has anyone got any thoughts re this?
Sorry Linda no, I’m finding my oncologist really informative and trustworthy when it comes to those decisions.
On a lighter note (because day 10 of 2nd cycle I’m still wiped out and slightly nauseous so need to find excuses to be positive!£, according to The Times today the kaftan look is THE look for this summer - it will probably be the first time in my 50 years I’ve actually been ‘on trend’ ???
Thanks for the update Tanya, we have all been quiet for 24 hours.
I had my 2nd FEC on 7th and the fatigue has hit me harder and faster this time. I had the usual headache and wooziness, nausea manageable but this tiredness is awful. I am being kind to myself and allowing rest hoping it will pass soon.
I cold capped again but the machine wasn’t functioning properly and didn’t seem as cold as last time, I have not stopped shedding since and now in a dilemma of shaving it off or persevering to see if it settles, not sure what to do.
I hope everyone is doing okay even if not responding have a read and feel the support xx
Day 19 already and cycle 2 looming on Friday. Had a port fitted today which went fairly well…only two attempts to get a cannula in…glad I now have the port. Hair started shedding yesterday after washing it. I have a lot to lose so will persevere with the cold cap and see how it goes.
Not looking forward to the next outing for chemo but got a call from Maggies to say they had a space on LGFB on Thursday so it feels like something nice rather than someone shoving a needle in me for once!
My hair has thinned so much and just not looking good so why hang onto it ? I think i have lost 50% and can feel it patchy underneath. My daughter wants to shave her head with me so I don’t have to do this alone bless her, she is 21 and happy to shave hers for breast cancer awareness. She is braver than me but I think you are right, the anticipation might be worse than the actual event.
I will make my decision over the next couple of days as I get my energy back.
Thank you for your words, it’s so good to have this support and know what we are going through is expected.
Saw oncologist today so need to decide if I come off the trial I am on. If I do then she said I may have 1 of the 2 drugs I would have had on the trial at a higher dose although it would be discussed at the MDT Meeting. As my second ultrasound has showed no change in size although there is marginal change I think its a no brainer as they don’t need to stick to the trial protocol and I avoid having another biopsy after the fourth chemo cycle. Anyway I am having my third fec tomorrow which I am not looking forward to!
Hi all - we have all been quiet for a few days. Hope everyone doing ok.
Tracey Mac- being good to yourself sounds a good plan. Has fatigue improved today? Sorry hair continuing to shed. Mine is too, but so far looking OK. Your daughter is amazing to even think of shaving hers if you decide.
Linda Corrine - what is your trial? Sounds tricky to make decision. Hope 3rd fec goes as well as can tomorrow- thinking of you.
Joandbasilthedog- hope treatment went ok today. Is it your 2nd?
Tropic_al- let us all know how LGFB goes- in on one on Monday.
Today was cycle 2 treatment day. Chemo drugs arrived 3+ hours late?, they were expecting them on time so started cold capping- 5 1/2 hours later I took it off!!! On the positive side - the hair follicles will have well and truly frozen so hoping hair loss will reduce! My nurse for the day was so apologetic for delay- not her fault . Apart from delay all went well, now at home exhausted so a sofa evening. Ginger ale at the ready to combat nausea- really helped to have one before o got up last time.
Take care all xx
Hi everyonehooe all ok
Hopefully you’ve all been enjoying the sunshine over the weekend and that’s why we’ve been so quiet on here ?
So I’m 12 days post 2nd cycle. And have been so lucky with no bad side effects except a little constipation sorry for too much info!! Lol.
I have been enjoying the sun and trying to safely tan my white scalp after burning it last week and peeling… oops!! My bcn would go mad if she knew!! But other than that my skin doesn’t of seem to changed lik I thought it would which I’m glad of as going to Gran Canaria next month so I should be fine. My oncologist said I’m fine to go just postpone my 4th cycle until I get back! Got travel insurance today and was so surprised how cheep it was had to ring to confirm it was right!! It’s nice to have something to look forward to.
Everyone loves my bald look and are so supportive. I’ve only worn my wig a couple times but it’s there if I want it.
I’m going to the LGFB group next Tuesday looking forward to that and getting my goodies. Got bloods same day oncologist wed and chemo Thursday might just take my sleeping bag lol
Hey all I’m 7 days into the second cycle and finding this week tough going - tougher than first cycle, I know that it will all pass, but finding it hard this week. Feeling nauseous and v tired. Just trying to go with it but struggling a bit…I’m gonna take the first pill I’ve had to take for nausea and hopef that will help. Cat being v cute though, and not leaving my side which is kinda nice :)
Spange, keep ???have plenty of cat love and snuggles too, a lot of us with cats found they were very attentive during chemo, they sense we need extra love And the thing that will make your heart sing is they still recognise you as mummy even with no hair which is that extra bit of love when you need it. Ladies who have braved the shave well done and don’t forget little princes trust that take your hair donations to make wigs for children Helps turn the hair loss into something positive ??keep ???Ladies you are doing amazing ???Shi xx
Sorry your not feeling great sponge. I’ve never had any sickness but I was advised to take all the anti sickness meds anyway which I have. Prevention is better than cure!! I’ve got strong anti sickness to take for couple days after treatment and mild anti sickness to take as and when but have never needed them after taking the strong ones with my steroids.
Hope you feel better soon. You got this xx
Hang in there ladies, it’s a tough several days but it will get better…
Thanks JemPD, I am feeling more energised as the week progressed, I find it’s easier to give into it than try and fight it. Hair loss settled a bit but so thin and dry, have to make my shaving decision this weekend.
Morning all agreeing with many of you cycle 2 a bit more difficult.
TraceyMac I’m feeling what you are going through- looking thin here too- decided to make the phone call and buy the wig I selected. Trying to be positive but finding this distressing. I need to refocus and focus on getting through this and coming out the other end well.
Take care all
Keep ???Ladies your all on the jet plane to the Greek island and currently over France, each chemo is another few miles on the so 3rd one in you’ll be over Italy, feel free to run riot in the plane, dance in the isles, play air hostess whatever you feel left me really but keep focused knowing there is a beautiful resort waiting for you in a few cycles time ???you are doing great ??Shi xx
