Hello, ladies!
Hoping side effects have been minimal.
I’ve just finished my third bout of fec…halfway through!!!..docitaxol next.
I thought I’d feel positive and upbeat at reaching the halfway stage, but I appear to have spent most of the day bursting into tears quite randomly.
Wasn’t prepared at all for the massive emotional swings today.
@joanandbasilthedog I can recomment the Seasalt headbands. They’re tubular when stretched out and cover the whole head effortless, with no need to fiddle with ties.
I bought quite a lot of head coverings, but these are by far my favourites as they’re so versatile, airy, light and come in so many different styles.
Sarah,
So sorry to hear of your tearful emotions. This treatment is so difficult and sometimes what we are going through hits home suddenly. Just ride it through, have a cry and look at tomorrow as a new day xx
Hope your feeling better today Sarah!! ?
Just been for bloods. Trouble getting blood again but got there in the end. My forearm has been very sore since my last chemo has anyone els experienced this???
I will let the oncologist know tomorrow and then chemo on Thursday. Hope it’s nothing and my veins are fine. Last thing I want now is a pic line to go on holiday in 3 weeks!! Won’t mind having it when I’m back for the last 3 cycles!!
Got my look good feel better session this afternoon. Looking forward to that.
Hope everyone doing ok today xx
Hi Leanne I’m having third chemo on Friday and I’ve had the same with my hand and wrist from last chemo, it’s a lot better now but was sore and tender as if I had hit it against a wall. Had it checked today when having bloods and all is fine. Last fec on Friday then start T so halfway now . Any one had All lymph nodes removed and how is your arm movement and pain xxx
Hi everyone, sorry to hear some of you have had a bit of a tough time lately, but all things considered I think we must all count ourselves lucky at how well we’re all doing… We’re one mighty strong group of women, lets keep this up!
I sincerely hope you’re feeling much better Hets, sounds like you have been through it. and Sarah I hope you’re back being positive and upbeat.
Leanne so glad you’ve brought up arm pain. Mine has been SO tender and painful too, especially on this second cycle despite them using a different vein.
I’m in week 3 now of cycle 2 and arm pain is just about gone, ready to be hit again Wednesday! I’ve got an appointment with my plastic surgeon tomorrow to discuss nipple/tattoo reconstruction!
My hair has fallen out completely now so I’m wearing headscarves and turbans. I don’t know why, but I feel confident wearing these but I’m really hesitant to wear ‘Sheila’ (wig) so she’s still sat on the side! Eyebrows and lashes still holding on!
@joannebasilthedog thanks. Hospital told me 80% of time they find out it’s nothing and send you home but the nurse who was assessing me said she’s seen 2 patients die because they ignored early signs. So next time I won’t hesitste! @mustardandgrey I hope you’re ok. I’m a bit like that (burst into tears in the middle of the pampering session today!). But I’m also dosed up with antidepressants due to ptsd BEFORE I got BC so not sure if the cycle 3 blues which my oncologist warned me about are going to hit me. @melsy68 thanks. I’ve bounced back quickly. I’m constantly amazed how you can feel ‘normal’ one minute and out of it the next. I’ve mentioned it before, but if any of you are booked on the pampering course but are having to wait a long time, I would consider booking a £30 makeup session at somewhere like bobby brown or Mac. You get to spend £30 on product so you are basically getting a free makeup lesson if you buy £30 of product. Not for everyone but you should learn all the basics of makeup that you will learn on the pampering session. Still worth going on the pampering session because you meet others, get top tips, and free product, but just mentioning it if you are already bald and have to wait a number of weeks before your free session - the confidence boost you will get from knowing how to do makeup is huge. And let’s fece it, most of us who are past one or two BIG birthdays have never really been shown how to do makeup or use anything more than a bit of powder, mascara and lipstick!
Hi Leanne, ask them for a heat pad to put on your arm as they give you the chemo and also have one at home, those microwaveable ones are good and rub some inruprofen gel in a bit too, not too much mind it will help ??Shi xx
Shi, Thanks for tip to use heat pad at home too. I’m going to try that. They give me one at chemo as well as soak my arm in hot water but my arm was really tender this time and my vein was raised and painful all the way up to my elbow!
Thanks for the tip shi will definitely do that. Had bloods yesterday and nurse had to wiggle the needle around to get blood out and arm was very sore again. 3rd cycle tomorrow can’t wait to be half way through!!! Xx
Good evening lovely ladies. Not been on for a while but kept up with your posts.
Cycle 2 has been a lot harder- the low moods have been hard . Yesterday was a good turning point- at PICC line flush discussed how terrible I’d been - appears I was suffering side effects from metaclopromide- will change for next cycle. Off to see surgeon tomorrow to check on reconstruction - all appears to be good, let’s hope he thinks so. It’s a 2 hour drive each way so Hubbie and I will treat ourselves to lunch- will just have to be outside.
Tropic-al - how’s your hair? I’ve lost about 40% and looking very thin and sad for itself☹️. Shedding appears to have slowed - has yours?
Joandbadilthedog- I think we must be the same chemo day - Tuesday last week?
Leanne - how was LGFB course? Agree with Herts that it was good to chat to others. Not sure I’ll use everything in the bag, green colour calming might help! Hope tomorrow goes ok.
Melsy- hope your arm was better today after chemo. Is that last FEC for you?
Herts- is your next cycle a week later? You’ve been through such a terrible week, hope you are all OK now.
Sarah - how are you doing today? Sea salt bands look good - thanks for suggestion.
Take care all, someone posted in another thread that we should see chemo as our friend! In a bizarre way agree, maybe I’ll feel better after finished!
Us ladies are all here for each other despite our personal challenges. Hope you are all doing well.
Please post and let us all know how things are going. Feel the love and hugs xx
@jempd thanks. Yes all systems go for 3rd cycle today. waiting for chemo is like you’re about get absolutely plastered and wake up with an awful hangover, but not have the fun that comes with having a night out, don’t you think?
@tropic_al that is exactly how I felt in cycle 2, it got v slowly and gradually better until around day 14. I’m told it will be the same for the next cycles but last longer - joy!
Well off I go to get ready for chemo - see you on the other side hahahaha
Derisina Headware is good for headbands/headscarves/bandanas & other headwear that is good value & they have a wide range of styles. I am thinking of getting a wide blue bandana plus it is free delivery to try. (deresinaheadwear.com/).
3rd cycle went ok today. Used a hot water bottle on my achy arm b4 which helped. Had a bit of sinus pain right at the end but other than that I’m half way through yay!! Got my holiday to look forward to in 3 weeks b4 my last 3 cycles.
The look good was fab. Really enjoyed and the freebies were amazing.
In bingo now so hopefully win some money for holiday ? lol
Hope your all doing ok!! Xx @hets chemo twin hope today went good for you too!! Xx
@leanne17 yes went ok - like you I got the sinus pain more than I have the previous ones which is weird! No idea how you’re doing bingo though - I’m on the sofa dozing through Netflix!! And eating popcorn!! I was also given another med to stop cancer in my bones (can’t remember the name) so will see what joyful side effects that brings! May the force be with us!
Hets and Leanne, you brave ladies, well done, cycle number 3 done.
My third isn’t until next Thursday.
You mentioned the sinus sensation. I didn’t get it the first time but did on the second. Know what to expect on the third.
Let us all know how you are doing. Sending positive vibes xx
Well cycle 3 today and don’t know why but feeling down today and a bit nervous about going. Trying to look on the plus side of being half way through but finding it all a bit to much . Hope your all doing ok ladies and sending to you all x
@tanya I had similar feelings. If it’s any consolation I’m finding day 2 really fine. I think it’s because things go downhill after day 3 once the steroids run out but of course that’s the feeling your brain has been left with. Hope you’ve got some lovely company to distract you xxx
Went to dentist today as the hospital said I should if my mouth hurts again. He did an xray and gave me some moth wash in my mouth and said to use a brush on a 90 degree angle which is tiny to get into nooks and crannies. He said to brush gently and thoroughly round gums and at the back and said there ws some food stuck but no infection. So i used the brush after lunch and my mouth bled more than before. Anyway i think i will just use warm salt water after my meal tonight. He said call the emergency dentist tomorrow if its worse which it would be if its infected. Is anyone else having problems with their mouth hurting?
