I’m not sure if my post worked! I liked the consultant but was hoping for more positives. She said I’m very hormone receptive and am also going to have chemo tablets. They’d see how I respond. I really wanted to be told there’s a chance I’ll be alive in ten years. The nurse refused to say but the consultant said there’s a chance. She said “average” was five years but that includes old people and liver and lung. Do you learn to live with this? I am feeling very shocked x
Hello Anne
It’s all a shock but the one thing to remember is that everyone is individual and responds to treatment differently.
For instance I have been on letrozole for over 2 years and it’s just stopped working …there are ladies here that have been on it 8 years.
Take a day at a time. …don’t listen to stats but concentrate on yourself. You say you are having chemo tablets …there are threads running for many types which will give you the right help.
Hugs xx
Thank you. I knew you’d say something helpful! This forum is so helpful
Hello Anne
I see you have posted on another thread and that you are now taking a hormone pill called Anastrozole ( originally called arimidex) .
It’s just a little pill to take daily …you might get a few aches and pains but nothing much to worry about. I took it for 3 years after my primary in 2004 …can’t remember many problems with it. But there is another thread on the main menu called " going through treatment" then hormone therapy …you will get a lot of feedback there from ladies taking it.
It’s very widely used together with other hormone brands like tamoxifen, letrozole and exmestance.
All the very best …you are going to be fine now you have a plan in place .

Thank you. I just feel so hopeless at the moment. Everyone else seems so brave!
