Hi Geraldine,
I saw the registrar again on Monday and contrary to what she had said the previous week, there does appear to be some further shrinkage in the main liver tumour so they are going to give me two more taxotere (will have 8 in total). Had the first on Monday as the fluid around my lungs and in my ankles seemed to have dispersed and my energy levels were up and bloods were normal. I did ask what was next after finishing the taxotere - she said probably leave things as they are and then scan in a few months but I will ask again after the next tax.
Thanks for your good wishes. Same to everyone.
Gill
Hey - that was unexpected good news then - I am pleased for you. Hope to see you again soon at a picnic or other meet. I am interested as to why my onc. has suggested just six taxotere?
Geraldine
I have been informed by the study nurse that I am provisionally booked into have my CT Scan 16/06/08 - I said that I would prefer it to be a lot sooner, as I have triple negative I am on nothing in between treatments and hate the fact that the little shi*y cells are just mupliplying and growing inside me. I mean it’s taken 9 days just to get this appointment. Usually all my treatment is carried out at the Queen Margaret in Dunfermline, Fife and fortunately for me you don’t have towait 3 weeks on a scan. I’m really not sure I can keep myself sane and stop my mind wandering in the meantime- I’m already terrified about getting the scan without having to wait.
To begin with the study nurse told me that the whole thing would take a maximum of 2 weeks, given that you could be put right onto a new drug like Xeloda they need to speed this up so they don’t put people off going on trials. My heads all over the place with “What if’s at the moment!”
I’ll be okay in a couple of days hopefully.

Diane - I can only imagine - when i had my dx in March my onc. was clear that waiting woulda few weeks would not be a problem but said he recognised that starting treatment asap was more about making us “feel” better emotionally. As I said before best of luck with the scan - thinking of you.
Geraldine
What a horrible place for you to be in. Really hope you are getting help with getting your head round it all.

I have just heard that the bone scan was fine and they have managed to move my CT scan and heart scan to Wednesday next week. Hopefully I will be on the trial the following week - it seems to have taken forever but I hope and pray that it’s worth it!
