Menopause after cancer no hrt

Hello, new member here.Is anyone else struggling with symptoms of menopause?

I’m 51 and had high grade dcis in 2023.Treatment was single mastectomy,no chemo/radio as it was caught early.

I was on HRTfor 1year before diagnosis which helped but for obvious reasons can’t use it anymore. I’m willing to take any advice and help I can get as I’m really suffering. Don’t know what to do and feel so alone, what do you guys do to help?

Look forward to hearing from you x

Hello @randalf

Welcome to the forums I very much share your frustrations with dealing with menopause symptoms post breast cancer and the unavailability of HRT. Personally prior to my diagnosis almost 5 years ago at the age of 50 I hadn’t taken HRT but there are times now when the frustration is such that I wish could at least give it a go!

Personally somebody recommended a menopause specialist to me called Dr Annice Mukherjee who very much understands as she herself had breast cancer in her 40’s and took Tamoxifen for 10 years. I found her book The Complete Guide to the Menopause really helpful. She also regularly posts on Instagram under the name the.hormone.doc.

Unfortunately I don’t think there is necessarily just one thing that you can do or take which makes all symptoms better and it’s more a case of working out what things can help what symptoms.

I hope you can find some strategies to help

I would love to know this too. The symptoms are unbearable.

Hello @randalf and all ladies

it’s such a trial and error thing for all this.

I don’t like the idea of antidepressants which I hear do work really well, I’m more of a natural/herbal route.

for hot flushes I was having arricular acupuncture this helped calm them but then it got stopped. Now I wear a sereniva bracelet and it works. massively reducing the flushes, I can even sleep now without being puddled.

I wear a magnetic bracelet for energy and also drink matcha, jasmine pearls and matcha fuel which has adaptogens in it, helps with brain fog too along with walnuts. Also I walk every morning and lunchtime, ticks off energy, brain, feel good, exercise.

For anxiety I wear a Ladycare magnet

Overwhelm seems to be a big deal for me, making decisions can be hard, even the easiest of tasks can push me over the edge. I’ve learned to just give myself a couple of options when needing to make a decision. Ie eggs or porridge for breakfast. And doing what’s most important first and to stop deciding and just do something.

Hope this helps xx

Desperate after two operations after a dics diagnosis, I already suffered with my hormones for years but they are now extreme and no one seems to get it. Doctor especially , friends and family all care lots but just don’t get the extreme state I’m in most days with anxiety and low moods and not being able to make decision well or deal with situations any more. It’s exhausting. Been getting more excercise, eating a bit better and taking magnesium as I don’t sleep well after being a great sleeper for years. Not sure what else to do… any ideas please Drained and desperate for help. xx
