Menopause Herbal remedies

Has anyone else tried the over counter Menopause remedies helpful? I have another 3 years of examestane tablets and am so fed up with the hot flushes etc.
Looked in chemists the other day and saw packets of tablets called Menopace, just wondered if anyone has tried them and have they helped.

My understanding is not to use anything with oestrogen or phyto-oestrogens if the bc was hormone sensitive - so that includes things like Red Clover and Black Cohosh.

I use Evening Primrose Oil, which is supposedly ok, and that does seem to help me, as in I don’t have severe symptoms.

Hi mounties,
I was taken off HRT prior to testing and treatment until they knew if it was hormone sensitive. Had a long chat with my doc and he looked up all the alternative remedies for me. I agree with Ann, he said to beware of anything that affected hormone levels in treating the menopause as it could cause the same problems. The main prob is that because they are not prescribed medicines, there arent any official clinical long term studies to show long term effects of these so would suggest checking anything you want to take with your BCN to be on the safe side. Mine isnt hormone sensitive and so they said I could go back on HRT but having got 3 months down the line now with the withdrawal have decided not to go back on it anyway and blame the flushes etc on the chemo!!

Thank you for your replies. You have both certainly made me think again about using something like Menopase.

Due to see onc in January so as you both suggest will talk it over with him.

Thank you x

I found sage helped me with hot flushes.

I am a bit confused. I can’t find anything that says menopace includes phytoestrogens. I have been taking it for a couple of years and it stopped my hot flushes. Only recently been dx with breast cancer.

Hi AGS

You may find it helpful to read the BCC booklet on menopausal symptoms as it includes lots of information about the menopause.
If you would like to order a copy just follow this link:-

I hope this helps.
