I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2011, chemo, surgery, radiation and tamoxifen from December 2011 to December 2013. My oncologist decided to change me to anastrozole when I mentioned that a scan had shown a fatty liver. I have been on anastrozole since february 2014 with all the usual side effects but on the whole feel a lot better than when i was on tamoxifen. My FSH level was 38 in December 2013, not sure what oestradiol levels were then, didn’t get told .July 2014 my FSH was 100, oestradiol was <45. This week have had bloods taken because of spotting FSH was 78, Oestradiol <44. I have spoken to breast care nurse who said that she had checked my results and I was definiately still menopausal. I have looked on line and it seems that my FSH levels are consistent with menopausal levels, I’m just a bit concerned about the oestradiol it doesn’t seem low enough to me but to be honest i’m finding it a bit confusing. I haven’t had a period since August 2011.The spotting has stopped. I am just a bit concerned because I know that anastrozole doesn’t work properly if you are not truly menopausal. I am really interested to know what other ladies levels have been and have they been menopausal especially if on anastrozole. forgot to mention i was Her 2 as well so had Herceptin for a year. thanks
