With ref my thread on neutrophils it is when the chemo reduces the number of white cells in your blood and therefore your ability to fight infection. You can become very poorly (if having bloody cancer wasn’t enough) and they will not give you your 2nd dose of chemo until they are up again. My onc says they have to be 1.5 and over i think that is standard but not 100% sure.
Good luck keep in touch and all the best I have to have 4xFEC to start and then 4X cant remember!! I found the book “cancer is a word, not a sentence” really informative without being to scary.
Thanks for your reply. I’m glad to hear your first bout of chemo wasn’t too bad. Do you think you will be
able to go ahead with the second as planned on Tues? I do hope so, to get it over and done with. Let me know how you get on.
Sounds like they take a lot of blood samples, yet more joy! - oh no - I’m such a big baby.
Do you worry about catching any ‘germs’ from your little ones. I’m not sure if I need to be in isolation for a few days afterwards (I have 3 - the youngest is 14 months and always full of cold and cough from nursery). I have also booked myself in for the flu jab.
Perhas I am being over-cautious!
Thanks for the advice re the book - I’ll take a look.
No I don’t worry ref the little coughs and cold etc, BC nurse said that they were not to worry about it is more infections ref cuts, urinary etc. They will advise you of all this when you go in for your first with a list of things to avoid (cat litter trays etc) The only thing i do know though is that you should avoid changing nappy etc for a few days after they have had vaccinations I take it due age yours maybe coming up to MMR so I would mention that.
Anyway now must log of as OH has to get on comp for poker tournament!!!
