Had last drain and stictches out this morning and home late this afternoon. The mystery of my disappearing knickers when I had the catheter has been solved ! I found them folded neatly in the top drawer of the cabinet - although not used the cabinet all week - thought would check it before coming away - so yours should be completely safe!!
The staff are brill on the ward - nothing is too much trouble for any of them - Sian did say she was going to try and come to see you next week - but I am in on Thurs for a check up - check up is at half ten so am hoping with stretching it for bit of lunch in cafteria will be able to pop in and see you at start of visiting.
Still have pretty limited movement and getting really frustrated that cant do things that I want to do - but it will get better.
I will you all the luck and good wishes for Tuesday - although am still sore - saw it all without dressings today while thay were being vhanged and am amazed with result - I never ever had one like this that didnt go under my armpit!
Take care - if they put you in main 4 beds and a room is free - ask and they will prob move you as one of the gitls still there when i was going today did and it wasnt a prob - much nicer in own room!
Enjoy the rest - the week has gone so quick cant believe is almost a week since sitting here waiting to leave - back to normal - kids, chaos - phone ringing etc etc - so enjoy it while you can !!

I am so glad to hear that you are back home safe and well (and your knickers). I must say you looked fab considering you’d not long had your op and Im glad to hear that you are pleased with the result. Still dont want to go ahead with the other side??
When I go in Tues I shall ask about the catheter as no one has mentioned it to me - also what type of bras are we supposed to wear after if any? Im taking a sports bra just in case.
Dont worry about coming in before the visiting times, so long as we dont make much noise I shouldnt think they would be bothered, we can always shut the door/curtain. It will be nice to have some visitors in the day as my family cant make it up until the evenings.
Better go and pack my stuff. Am working tomorrow and we are heading up to Stoke tomorrow night and staying with friends.
i took in a couple of sports bras and didnt wear any until coming home yesterday - even then took it straight off as still not comfy enough. I am still in 2 minds bout the other side - Sian worried me when visiting on fri - sating that basically because I am triple neg I have the worst type? you had mentioned it to her or something as that is what Sian is or something. so am thinking that am going to get rid of other. Then agin sian only had lump removed not whole thing. Could have burt into tears after she had gone on fri night as thought have been thru all this for nothing as still gonna get it back anyway! I did not have any spread - dcis was 10cm but invasive caught really early and was only 2mm they have not said I am at more risk will ring clinic this week and talk it through.
Thabk you for the compliments - i still think i look yuk - but still early days - back is about worst biy still sore and bruised but can lay on it.
I was suprosed about catheter but found out that was being sick in recovery as well as on ward which is why i did not have the morphone drip - they thought was making me sick - guess not as had injections of it and was fine - must be something differrent in the anaethetic than have had at telford.
Still well pleased with result - have seen without dressings - it is amazing what they can do from nothing.

Soz if i worried you about the triple neg bit. I wasnt worried about it until it all became an issue with someone else and when I discussed it with my oncologist he wasnt really bothered about it. The impression I got, is that its not the best type to have as there is nothing else, medication wise, that they can throw at it ie no use having Tamoxifen/Arimidex/Herceptin. Thats part of the reason I am so keen to have both breasts and ovaries removed. I feel having done that, I have done as much as I can and if I do have a recurrence then so beit. At least Im not thinking if I had of had a mast on the other side perhaps I wouldnt have been going through this now if I were to have a recurrence in the right. Does that make sense? Although to be honest Im glad not to have any more meds and Ive always wanted a “boob job”
Better go to work, was hoping to get there early so I could leave early and sort everything out for tonight.
I’m hoping you are now out of hospital I have spoken to Tina and she said you were doing really well when she came to visit you in hosp. Hope all went well and you are happy with the recon I’m sure you’ll agree that Mr Prinsloo is a lovely surgeon and very caring. I am due to see him on the 11th Oct to discuss nipple recon.

Got out of hospital yesterday. I have to take my hat off to you having both sides done at the same time, Im struggling a bit with sleeping but now i am able to sleep on my side its so much easier. Im very pleased with the result, staff were fine and even the food was quite nice - also managed to lose 2lb hooray!! Initially, Tues night and Wed I wasnt sure if i could go through it again but as of wed have been much happier about it all and your right, its not so much painful but uncomfortable. Im going back on Tues for a follow up and am hoping that we can discuss dates for the other side. At the moment Im not bothered about nipple reconstruction but it will always be an option i suppose if i change my mind later.
Will be at the meeting this month so will see you there.

glad to hear you are home and doing ok. I was back in Stoke on Sat another drain of fluid - I thought you may have gone already so didnt come in to see if you were there! I am back again tomorrow as fluid has come back for a third time - tho dosnt seem as much this time. Know how you felt the day after I am still in 2 minds it was more than i expected… but then again the result is good so is def worth it! It is healing ok now and is coming to be a nice pink line so looks a lot better.
How are you feeling in yourself? How are you finding having the little lad around? Josh has been really good and when he comes ove he gives me a “gentle cuddle” which is really nice - he almost seems to understand!
I didnt lose anything in weight I put it on!! the food was nice and don’t usually eat 3 times a day - trousers etc bit tight - but keep telling myself and everyone else is the fluid…

I havent really had to cope with little 'un, he was at nursery Wed am, he was in bed for afternoon nap and then he has gone to stay with Nanny - last night and tonight, bit gutted almost cos he asked to go and stay with Nanny!!

Im feeling better now, had a better nights sleep last night, only woke a few times but can now lie on my non-surgery side easier which i prefer cos i dont like sleeping on my back even without a massive wound site. Had a shower yesterday (got my dressings a bit wet oops) so felt much better after that.
Better go and supervise OH, he’s cutting the grass for the first time bless him.
Josh has got used to nanny being around as well - thinks she is gonna cook all the time now!
Had another 200 mls off today - knocked me for 6 came home and went to bed till 5! Had first full night sleep last night so felt great this morning - feel drained again now tho!
Dosn’t seem to be coming back again as yet - has done each time before so hopefully is starting to ease up a bit.

Another 200mls, how are you getting to and from Stoke - are you driving yet? Are you having to do everything at home and so that is making more of a build up of fluid to be drained off? I’ve been trying (although not very well) to not do too much but if i dont hoover, clean the bathrooms etc etc it wont get done, at least not when i want it done by. There is definitely fluid on my back which i reckon will need draining on Tues when i go for my check up.
Did you get a warranty for your implant? How weird is that - no-one had mentioned it before and it was only cos i could hear someone elses conversation that i knew anything about it and asked for the info pack.
Better go and get little un ready and start sorting the roast - I love Sundays!!
Hope you are both well and not in too much pain now. I must admit I was really surprised with the warranty for the implants, I too only got the pack after overhearing another conversation about it.
I think you could be right Ju about doing too much so increasing the about of fluid retention, I had a big build up on both sides that had to be drained off and was advised to take things easy, I did and only ended up with two lots of fluid having to be drained. So Tina take things easy, relax and enjoy some you time !!!.

Went for check up today. Steri-strips off and scars are looking good already. They didnt drain any fluid off my back although there is some there, they said there wasnt enough so hopefully it will go by itself. Check up in 3 months.
